Default Oil Level?/confusion help

Ok I just had my fluids changed at the dealer and need some help.
Reason being on my receipt I was charged for 4 quarts of oil.
when I checked my oil after getting home it appeared High.
after a few hours later and a cold motor oil level still high.
now I am second guessing my self, My question is when oil is checked
do you bottom out the oil dip stick as when it is installed when riding or
do you just contact the rubber groumet on the fill spout?
my ride is an 05 dyna I know stupid question, but service manual is not clear other then
aproximately 2.4 qts oil wet motor.
I probably will be stealing the Mrs turkey baster- hope this makes sense
Thank you
Carl

4 quarts would be overflowing out of the filler neck.....
&nbsp\\;
They should have only charged you for 3, and actually given you back about 1 pint....
&nbsp\\;
As far as level, it is ALWAYS checked HOT, on sidestand, and dipstick fully seated....

Shovelhead Bob,
thank you I checked it both cold and hot after return from dealer with dip stick fully seated and it showed way full.
then when cold I checked it with dipstick just seated to rubber gromet it showed right on money.
I went to manual and double checked receipt that was when I started to dought my process&nbsp\\;which brought me to this board you do not want to know what they charged for labor but I will be visiting the dealership this morning for an explination.&nbsp\\; Well this has been a weekend from H-.
