Default Removing Clutch inspection cover 08 CVO

I was trying to remove the clutch inspection cover to check the change case lubricant. On the clutch inspection cover&nbsp\\;there are 5 bolts. They were tighter than hell. I used a T27 driver and could loosen 4 of the bolts,but the 5th wouldn't budge. I finally stripped the bolt.

Is there a special tool I need to remove those bolts? How to I get that bolt out? HELP please....&nbsp\\; It is an 08 Ultra Classic.

Sounds like the PDI dealer failed to put Anti-Sieze on the screws during inspection....
&nbsp\\;
Get ahold of a small Hand Impact.... And that will break loose the final screw....
&nbsp\\;
During PDI, the tech "Should" open the primary to verify the correct level, but that step was taken out of the PDI manual... Don't ask me why....
&nbsp\\;
Our shop still opens them up, and have found a few that were low, and 2 I think were dry from final assy....
&nbsp\\;
During the reinstallation of the cover, we put Anti-Sieze on the threads, to prevent or at least inhibit the galling and siezing that occurs on those screws....

Thanks Bob,

Sounds like this is more common than un-common. Is the T27 the correct tool anyway?

Those things were stupid tight on mine the first time. Clearly the factory don't use their recommended torques for these.

yes T27
if all else fails, go to&nbsp\\; dealer in car/truck with other loose bolt to purchase same or chrome set first...you are going to need it anyway...purchase oil and gasket while you are at it..or get stuff online..
-you can remove stripped bolt by drllling only the head off of the bolt and then use vise grips or pliers to turn once cover comes off..sometimes you can turn them by hand once cover/pressure from cover is off...may wish to tape and&nbsp\\; cardboard area&nbsp\\; around cover&nbsp\\; in case&nbsp\\; drill slips

i just read that one of the members mentioned re-inserting the removed torx and tightening down the torx on each side of the stripped torx..something about the bolt getting pinched by cover and how this would releave pressure around the stripped torx..you can then try to see if your torx bit bites enough or maybe a small flathead bit or sometimes an allen bit..

Go to your local hardware store and get 5 #20 coarse thread 3/4" long SS allen head socket cap screws. Much better than the torx screws. Cost $2.
