Default Help with backfiring problem on 96 super glide evo Can you help?

Can anyone possibly help me figure out what has happened...I would really appreciate it.&nbsp\\; I've searched through the forum as well as performed a search with no success.&nbsp\\; Hopefully someone will have the answer.
&nbsp\\;
I&nbsp\\;have a 96 Super Glide Evo that is hard to start.&nbsp\\; It backfires through both the carb and exhaust along with flames out the exhaust.&nbsp\\; If and when it does start, it runs really bad and has a rough idle.&nbsp\\; This all started after a bad backfire upon starting one day.
&nbsp\\;
Thanks&nbsp\\;in advance for your help.&nbsp\\;&nbsp\\;
Jim&nbsp\\;

Thank you Ben for the welcome and thank you for responding.&nbsp\\; This is what I've checked so far:
*Checked for intake vaccuum leak
*Checked wiring to the module and coil as well as the coil itself
*Checked the plugs
&nbsp\\;
All of the above checked out fine.&nbsp\\; I readjusted the push rods as well.
&nbsp\\;
Any other suggestions of what I can check?&nbsp\\;
&nbsp\\;
I'm wondering if it could possibly be due to cam jumping time or burnt valves?
&nbsp\\;
Thanks again,
Jim

Do a compression check, and check the ignition timing.

Thank you Doc 1.&nbsp\\;
&nbsp\\;
I have already checked the ignition timing, just forgot to put it on my list.&nbsp\\;
&nbsp\\;
I'll perform a compression check.
&nbsp\\;
I'm stumped!
&nbsp\\;
Have a great evening

It may be possible that when the bike backfired thru the carb that time it may have blown the diaphragm in the top of the carb.&nbsp\\; Should be about a $40 part.

Thank you telefishin2k for your response.&nbsp\\; i will check that out, if there's a way to check it.&nbsp\\; I'd rather it be that than the other alternative it's looking like.
&nbsp\\;
Have a happy and safe 4th

Thanks dvsracer for your suggestion.&nbsp\\; All I know is it's a single fire ignition but don't what what type.&nbsp\\; I think it may be an ignition problem too but I can't figure it out.
&nbsp\\;
Does anyone know how to test the electronic module?
&nbsp\\;
Also, to follow up on the other suggestions, the compression check came back as about 180 per cylinder front and back.
&nbsp\\;
Argh!!!
&nbsp\\;
Thank all of you so much for helping.
Jim
