Default Wrecks and insurance

Heading out to pick up mail after being on vacation and an elderly man pulled out in front of me and I got his left front fender.Ticket issued and I walked away with only road rash and bruising on right shoulder,left thigh and heel..I had a helmet and full gloves and long sleeves..common for me even if its hot.Mans wife was in a nursing home and passed rthe next day.Had the bike towed in(92flstc) and most damage was to the right side.Brake pedal,floor boards folded up and the&nbsp\\;right broken and jammed up againist the master cylinder.Engine guards trashed as .have an S&amp\\;S card and the enrichner wouldnt move which leads me to believe that the carb may be damaged.Not seen by insurance company yet&nbsp\\;or&nbsp\\;&nbsp\\;&nbsp\\; estimated by my local HD folks but it looks totaled on the right side.Wait and see or is it so old that they may total it ?? Did not feel the need to seek medical attention .Actually feel fine and came on to work monday.

Dert, I've been there years ago. Please go get checked out medically, and have someone independant look the bike over as well (your dealer would be fine.) All just to cover your ass. Do not under any circumstances trust anything at all from the insurance company. Do not commit to anything the insurance company wants you to sign or verbally give them any indication you accept or agree with anything they say or tell you. If necessary, just tell them you'll think it over, or take it under consideration or whatever. Please listen to me on this! I am still suffering from the effects of a seemingly minor crash from 22 years ago..........in my case, it was an elderly woman. She left turned me, and I hit her so hard it snapped the frame of my bike ( a custom chopper I built myself) in half and totalled her 6 month old car! I got bad screwed over by the insurance guys cause I trusted anyone...............they did finally pay for the bike, but only a part of the value. They will lowball you on that. Go to Kelly Blue Book and look up the value on your bike. They will use trade in, make damned sure they go with the retail value, it's way different! Best of luck.

I can understand ur feelings for this guy in his time fo grief
U need to protect urself first.U did not do anything wrong and u should be very careful of any first offers..If u r not satisfied a lawyer is free to consult..Think about what could have happened and how lucky u were but u gotta stand up for urself.LOL

Dert, take the advise of the others who have replied.&nbsp\\; Go to your family doctor just to be sure.
&nbsp\\;
I am sure you feel bad for the man because of his wife but remember you are dealing with his insurance company, not him.&nbsp\\; If fact I would suggest you not talk to him at all, just the insurance company.&nbsp\\; If you feel you are not being treated fair then by all means contact a lawyer.
&nbsp\\;
Just my thoughts.

Dert, good luck in what ever you may do.&nbsp\\; I can appreciate and understand your decision.
&nbsp\\;
At my age (close to yours I bet) I have been thinking along the same lines.&nbsp\\;
&nbsp\\;
Maybe a new Corvette!
