Engine Cuts Out
Hi - I have a 2006 FXD35 SuperGlide Custom. I bought it in mint condition (2000 mi) from a guy in Tennesee \\;4 weeks ago (I live in Toronto Canada). He never had any problems with the bike. I've had no problems riding around for the last \\;4 weeks either. 2 days ago, I washed the bike and then dried it with a leaf blower (found out later this is a terrible thing to do). Polished it all up, and went to the corner gas station and \\;filled \\;the tank \\;with fresh super (91 octane). Rode the bike home and put it away. \\;The next \\;morning, \\;I headed out \\;for a ride. 20 mins in, the bike started cutting out, lurching with the power coming on and off, and backfiring. Finally, it died altogether. No ignition, no indicator lights, no acc power, nothing. After a few minutes, got it fired again, and nursed it to a bike garage. The mechanic there cursed me for using the leaf blower, and said I may have forced water into a connector somwhere that shouldn't get wet. He checked all the obvious stuff\\; the coil, the fuses, the battery, the ECM, found nothing. Then with the seat off, he checked some of the wiring harnesses - no obvious signs. He said he couldn't find the master reset breaker. He suggested to leave the bike sit inside his shop for a few days, and let it completely dry out, that may fix the problem. When I left, the bike still had no power at all - completely dead when I tried the igniton switch - no lights, no engine light, nothing. Anybody had this issue or have any ideas? Thanks, Matt.
