Mike&nbsp\\;

Piece of cake.&nbsp\\; Post if you have any problems.&nbsp\\; I don't have a scanner, but it really is easy.&nbsp\\;

Excellent tip I got was to take the shock loose from the bottom bolt.&nbsp\\; I put a floor jack under my back wheel and lowered the back wheel out of the fender so I could get my fat hands in to pass the wires through the rear taillight.&nbsp\\; If you have small hands&nbsp\\;or someone with small hands you can probably skip this step.

Next, take the cheezy license plate holder that comes with the kit and toss it in the garbage and get the (cough)(cough) Kuryakyn curved license plate holder.&nbsp\\; MUCH cleaner appearance.&nbsp\\; So you may want to run to the HD dealership and pick up the Kuryakyn chrome curved license plate holder before you start the project.&nbsp\\; Taking off the kit once it's on to put the Kuryakyn piece on is a pain, so get the plate holder at the same time you buy the kit.

Mike

Are these for your Custom?&nbsp\\; You don't already have bullet rear turn signals and the light that points downward toward your license plate as stock hardware on the back?&nbsp\\; If not, I have the parts list and maybe you could buy what you need individually to keep the cost down.&nbsp\\; The kit is expensive and the license plate holder is garbage that comes with it so you'll spend an additional $60 bucks on the Kuryakyn license plate holder.[&:]

A dealer parts guy can print out the instructions from the computer.

actually, yes, this is for my custom. i already have the bullet turn signals and the 'short' bar, but the license plate is still on the top. what i really wanted to do is to finish what they started and relocate the plate to the bottom. if you could make a copy of the parts list for me that would be awesome. my email is skratches@earthlink.net. sounds like the 'best' solution is the kury curved plate holder and a downward facing taillight lens.

how does the kuryakyn plate mount? do you have to do any drilling? i'm hoping to avoid that if possible.

yeah, thats great if you have a dealer parts guy right around the corner, but dealers here in la are few and far between. my nearest one is over 60 miles away. at 4.25 per gal, i would rather check and see if anyone has it and can email it to me.

Nick, thanks for the offer to fax, but i don't have one, nor do i have access to one.

Mike, what you need to do, and I can do this when I get home, is get the part # for the light bar from an FLHX(Streetglide).&nbsp\\; Buy this, a taillight cover that&nbsp\\;does away with the white part on top that allows the light to shine on your license plate on top(either smoke or red or whatever),&nbsp\\;and the Kuryakn license plate holder and you should be good to go.&nbsp\\; No drilling required.&nbsp\\;

The lightbar in the kit is not sold separately so this is not an option, but the OEM FLHX rear turnsignal light bar has the license plate light facing down already.

Carl, you see anything wrong with my suggestion?&nbsp\\; Double check me on this to make sure there would be no wiring issues please.

Link to Kuryakyn curved license plate for FLHX that I suggest you use: http://www.kuryakyn.com/products.asp...&amp\\;ci=3727

After re-reading your reply, the most cost effective solution would be a tailight lens that allows the light to point downwards to illuminate the newly repositioned license plate.&nbsp\\;\\\\\\; The only POTENTIAL problem I see with this is, do you have two holes underneath your OEM light bar to accept the kuryakyn license plate holder?&nbsp\\;\\\\\\; If so, go this route and be done.

The turn signal/light bar (which has LED's to light the license plate) from that kit is part no. 68629-05.&nbsp\\; Zanotti's website quotes $83 for it.
&nbsp\\;
You can buy a tail light lens from J&amp\\;P and probably others with the clear lens on the bottom to light the tag and use the Kury tag holder with your current turn signal bar.&nbsp\\; Much less expensive than buying the light bar, and you would be buying a new tail light lens anyway to replace your stock one.
&nbsp\\;
The kit includes a "Harley Davidson" script piece to install on the chrome support tube to cover the bolt holes where the license plate currently mounts.&nbsp\\; The trim piece is part no. 53709-04 and the chrome button head screws that attach it are part no. 94600-98.
&nbsp\\;
I bought a take-off chrome support tube take-off from a SG (no bolt holes) and replaced the OEM tube on my EG when I installed the kit and sold the "Harley Davidson" script trim and bolts to an HDF'er a year or so ago.&nbsp\\; HTH.

If you buy the light bar from the kit (which&nbsp\\;is what the SG uses) there are no wiring issues.&nbsp\\; The wiring for the LED license plate lights plugs into the unused upper left chamber in the tail light assembly.&nbsp\\; On a bike with fender tip lights (which is NOT your RK Custom) that chamber is used for the fender tip light.&nbsp\\;
&nbsp\\;
