I have been reading conflicting reports about drilling out the plug in the baffels of the stock exhausts \\;\\\\\\;for the 2008 Dina,s, will this require the fuel injection to be remapped for best performance, or will the existing mapping compensate,

RE: Stock Exhausts:to drill or not to drill
Used a 1.25" hole saw and drill extension. Cut them out completely on my Fat Bob. Still not the sound I'm looking for, but it'll do till I can get the Rush Mufflers I want. Also running XIEDS, J.E.T Phase 2, and Factory Map. Bike runs really good.
Save yourself the time and effort and just replace them with slipon mufflers. \\; I was going to take the baffles out of my stock mufflers too, but I'm glad I didn't and just replaced them with Khrome Werks 3" HP Plus slip ons. \\; The sound is deep but not excessive (unless you give it hell) , No remapping was needed and I get no "popping" when I decelerate. The bike just came back from the stealer after it's 1,000 mile checkup and the plugs \\;looked great and no problems arose from switching without a remap. \\;Best of all I still have my stock mufflers sitting in a box in my closet in case I'd ever want to return it to stock.
My experience with drilling slipons has been that they don't sound good, at least in my opinion. As the woodie put it, just buy some commercial slipons and call it a day. I tend to find great deals on ebay for used ones because you can save a bundle, if you don't mind used.
Just save your money and buy some slipons or a set of pipes. Either one of those options \\;sound way better than doing what you are thinking about.
I drilled mine partially out with a long 3/8 inch drill bit. It is louder, it isn't bad, but it's not the greatest sounding exhaust either. I get a little popping on decel. I will be putting on full pipes when I can make up my mind on Rinehart staggered or Bub 7 2->\\;2's. Still on the fence. Anyone know how the 7's sound/ perform?
my dads soft tail i removed his baffels, then re jetted the bike (it is an aniv edition) everyone we ride with agree that his bike has the best sound, deep rumble and classic HD sound, loud but not to loud... personally i think it is not a bad way to go if you just dont have the extra $$$ to throw around
Is that when you drill the weld out right on the end of the output end of the stock muffler? I have read a how-to on that, but it seems to me that will basically leave you with a drag pipe. Is there still some baffle left when you do this, or something to keep backpressure?
I have some stock muffs with the center disc punched out, but they sound terrible, kind of ppppffffffffttttt when you back off the throttle. That's a bad rendition of a sound effect..!
I've got basically that now - original SE's made by Cycle Shack with a lollipop and small baffle. Was just curious what was left when you drilled out the whole baffle. Thanks. Most of us probably have a small collection of slipons we've tried and not liked, I know I do!
