No it's not you, they do idle fast to keep the oil pressure up.&nbsp\\;

DO NOT AND I REPEAT, DO NOT try to lower your idle on the 07 - 08's. They have to idle at approx 1,000 to 1,200 rpm's.&nbsp\\; The oil pumps need the idle speed to keep the oil pressure up.&nbsp\\;

You can lower the idel with sert BUT IF YOU DO YOU WILL BURN YOUR MOTOR UP. thay are set at 1000 to 1200 to keep oil presure up so you starve the top end off oil.

Trust them on this, I have an 04 Train, carbureted, and mine was idling around 800 or so. HD told me to bump it up to at least 1050, to help the oil pump. Glad I caught that in time!!

My 08 Softail service manual (pg 1-6) specs engine idle speed at 950-1050 RPM.

there's no "potato-potato-potato" idle sound on the fuel injected bikes. too bad for us.
