Default Oil dripping from air cleaner

As I rode my 2005 RKC from So Cal to Texas, I noticed oil was dripping out of the air cleaner cover after long stretches through the heat. Not a lot, but enough to get on my right saddlebag. Any one else experience this or know the cause?

I think you diagnosed the cause yourself: long stretches in the heat.

Rode to South Dakato and back last summer, did not notice this then.

Suggestion, I see you have an aftermarket air cleaner.&nbsp\\; I have the K&amp\\;N baseplate / filter and had slight oil blowby / drip. Found out by taking the stock baseplate curved rubber vent tubes, trimed them and installed so they pointed right at the edge of the throttle opening it then sucked any blow by in the throttle, just like the stock setup is supposed to do.

I can ride in heat and hammer it, put my fingers inside the cover after a long ride and bone dry. Hope this helps.

&nbsp\\;Common problem, crankcase gases are pumped into the air cleaner. Easy fix I did on my 02 was to run the oil about 1/2 qt below the full mark.

Absolutely. The key to fixing this problem primarily lies with not over-filling the oil tank.

Ditto, the hotter it gets the more the oil bubbles and swells in the tank, which will cause blow by out the cleaner no matter what you do.

Thanks everyone. I do believe I may have been running a half quart too much. My fault. Don't ever trust them damn digital oil temp / level dipsticks.&nbsp\\;Need to run her from San Antonio to Orange Co. Calif. this weekend. Hopefully she's done slingin oil at the right side of the bike.

It's also caused at times by too much pressure in the crankcase that forces the oil up through the breather system and out the aircleaner.&nbsp\\; If it continues even after you're down a 1/2 quart, it can be cured by removing the crankcase drain bolt, drain out what little oil there is built up...should only be an ounce or two at the most and the tighten it back up.
We had the problem on an '08 with a 103 upgrade but a big part of that problem was that the mechanic hadn't put the oil pump in properly and it was picking up the oil like it was supposed to.&nbsp\\; The draining of the crankcase got us back to SoCal from Durango without any more leaks/blowby.
