Default need input on upgrading 883 with more power

Hi, a friend told me to go on line to get some advise on my best route to upgrade my 1997 883. I was gonna put in a 1200 kit and then was told that if I replace the cams, throw on drag pipes and rejet the carb this would be like upgrading and give me more power without costing to much. I don't have a lot of money to work with and just wondering my best course of action. I love to ride and was thinking of getting a bigger bike but I like the fit of my sportster so I'll just give it more power.

If you install a SE air filter kit and a set of slip-on mufflers like Cycle Shack series 'M' or some SE slip-ons you can pick up 8 to 10 more ponies. The last thing you want to install are drag pipes.

Boring your existing cylinders is the easiest/least expensive cubic inch per dollar spent gain, of any Harley ever made. You will also lose 9 lbs from the bike as well, and it will run smoother, and may experience a gain in fuel economy as well. And how do I know this...........
