Default No riding on the 4th for me

After I had my tire installed (rear) 4000 miles ago, I have had my bike in 3 or 4 times telling the dealer the *** end is making noise, sorta sounds like a bearing or something ya know? They look and adjust belt twice and the 3rd time tell me nuthin is wrong. Monday Im shooting down I-30 after picking the ole lady up from work at about 95 and things get a little wobbly, thought it must be about time for a front tire. About 6 blocks from home there is a sceaching grind from the *** end and it sounds like something falls off, slow down and ask the ole lady if she saw anything fall off or feel anything odd, says she heard it and felt it but dont know. Pulling into drive and noise starts again only REAL loud, tell the ole lady to hop off and watch me pull in, she come up with a handfull of bearing saying they are droping out of the rear wheel like a rat droping turds. Get down and take a look, bearing is completly exposed and looks like 5 or so gone, bone dry.
Call HD, they say they will send a truck to get it, cool, when? Weds. They come get it Weds and cant get at it till thurs 4pm, I get droped off hoping they can fix it, its my only ride.
Bearing is welded to the spacer, may be further damage in the wheel, if Im lucky might get it mon tue, they have to call HD and get it waranteed and might have to order parts and might need a wheel, ( I wont be at all surprised to see they need a wheel to fix)
So I was off since monday havent been able to ride and might be down another week.
**** sucks.
Only good thing is it should all be warenty work.
That happend when you buy a car you get a loaner,&nbsp\\;\\\\\\; or a rent car, I get no loaner no car I guess I should be happy I got a ride home.
Great 4th

Arnold I am happy first of all you and your wife made it home without any issues(safe).&nbsp\\; The dealer will take care of the issue with the wheel.&nbsp\\; Lets us know how it goes.

Sounds like a 50-50 shot between the bearing being a bad one from the git-go, or the mech over-tightening the axle nut.
Being both cheap and lazy, I always take only my wheel/tire in to the shop when it is time for a new tire.
That way I know it gets installed on the bike straight and the axle nut correctly torqued.

WOW every poster from TX so far.
&nbsp\\;
Born and raised 60 mi east of Dallas.&nbsp\\; The USAF hasn't seen fit to station me further south than Colorado.....
&nbsp\\;
Dealers really tick me off.&nbsp\\; Sell the bike above MSRP, give crappy service, overprice everything......
&nbsp\\;
Used bikes, wrench my own&nbsp\\;and indy shops.&nbsp\\; That's how I will go.

Yep Im going back to pulling my own, too much money to pay to have it done wrong.

Ok, I wont tell you..

They have really treated me ok till now, and if warenty Im ok with it, nobodys perfect, I really feel they owe me a loaner or rent me a ****ing car at least, paid about as much for it as a car, should get comperable shop warenty service, other than that they are doing ok, but like I said Im doing my own wheels from now on, in the old days I wouldnt have been trusting someone else I would have looked at the bearing or just replaced it, lord knows I have replaced nuff of them in the past.

Damn.&nbsp\\; I was afraid this would start.&nbsp\\; They have lost some of their BEST people over the last several months.&nbsp\\; I'm almost afraid to turn my bike over to them now, but the only alternative is Corinth and I'm still evaluating those guys.&nbsp\\; I was less than impressed with their Dyno tune a few months ago.&nbsp\\; Besides, HDNT is five minutes from where I live.&nbsp\\; Allen, Garland and Bedford Stealers are OUT of the question.

Thanks for the heads-up, Bro'...

Mistakes happen, I will do my own wheel/bearing **** after this.
I wouldnt worry too much, by and large they are pretty good crew over there, just watch when you take in an issue.
I dont plan on taking my work that I normally take to them alsewhere, I do most of my maint my self anyway, thats just one aspect I was letting them do and Im not any more, like I said, if I hadnt been relying on someone else I would already have changed that bearing, my bad for being lazy.
Still pisses me off about the loaner though
