picked up the fxdl this morning. \\; It has HD forward controls added right from the dealer when the guy originally bought the bike. \\; Problem is, I am kinda short, and the rubbery foot pegs are too narrow. \\; My feet need to be further outboard then what is allowed by the mushy rubber. \\; My left foot came off twice today riding from Atlanta to Nashville, one time hitting the highway at 70+mph.
I don't need a broken ankle, what I do ned is a better solution.
suggestions?

RE: Need wider footpeg suggestions for the forwards
I've got a kurakyn peg setup with the heel rests (along with kury forward conrol extensions).
 \\;
that whole setup makes for a very wide foot area.
RE: Need wider footpeg suggestions for the forwards
harley makes some extra longer pegs that are just like stock, but 1' longer.
They have a chrome knob on the end and I found that keeps your feet from
sliding off the ends, and makes a slight different angle on your knee if you shift outward
for a change in position. Not sure the part #.

Actually GentlemanBiker you don't have the longer pegs listed in your auction, just the large pegs. There are 3 types of this peg, the large, the small and the oversize which are 1 inch longer than the others.
That's a hell of an expensive shifter peg too.

RE: Need wider footpeg suggestions for the forwards
I am selling all the stuff together large pegs, small pegs, and shifter. Price is not for each of these elements separately...that would be an expensive peg!
You are right about the oversized. What I have aren't them. I did purchase some oversized when I bought these, but returned them.
Back to the original question...
timberwolvez, if you are having some difficulty with the reach on the forwards, you might want to consider a different seat rather than a different set of pegs. Several manufacturers have seats that move you forward.
Do you have a stock air filter cover? They can make it difficult to get the right foot planted securely and comfortably because they obstruct your leg. If you get an SE air filter and ditch the stock cover in favor of a smaller one, it gives your right leg a better path to the peg. You might not feel like you need to go wider. I am a little surprised to hear that it was your left foot that dropped. The right one can be much more difficult to position correctly.
