Default Electriglide Classic Vs Ultra Classic

I'm planning my purchase of a 2009 Electriglide Classic or maybe the ultra classic and although I know the basic differences (Cruise, CB, PT Intercom, 4 speakers, lowers) the only one that I really care about is cruise which can be easily added to the Classic, four speakers might be nice too but I don't know if that justifies the extra $2k.&nbsp\\; I plan to ride 1 up most of the time.&nbsp\\; My question really is what are the subtle differences, or is there any?&nbsp\\; For those of you who bought the Ultra Classic what do you like the most that you wouldn't get on the Classic?

Hi Alan,
You have pretty much nailed it. If you are mainly riding solo, I would save your money a get the Classic. I bought the Ultra just so I would have all the toys, no other reason than that...

Quite frankly I never really understood the Classic (no cruise control give me a break) is it a touring bike or is it not? For a couple of bucks you could go out&nbsp\\; buy a couple of tools take off the product you do not want to make it a Classic and then when it is time to sell you get your $2000.00 back on trade in value IMHO.

either way the Touring models are just cool...I have not met a women yet that is not more than willing to give that big ol comfy seat a try.

The 4 speakers. The best sound comes from the back and the ability of the person inback to hear without blowing you out. The lowers. I love them. They have vents now so mine will never leave the bike. They are great for cold weather and I have been driving in heat in the mid 90's and the venting is sufficient. The intercoms, dont use them but have the option. Cb never will , but cruise is really nice. From now on it will be a nessecity on a touring bike for me. Other than that I dont know the differences if any. Never considered a classic. I paid an extra 2k for a Anniversary Ed. for paint And a 105th ann. badge!
Oh, ABS is standard too on my bike. Good luck with your new bike!!

Had the same question myself when I bought my '07 in march.&nbsp\\; I love the comfort and feel of a touring bike but, at 34, I'm not ready for anything that is TOOO goldwingish (No offense guys)&nbsp\\; So I went with the classic.&nbsp\\; You can add the rear speakers and cruise for less than $750 if you are the least bit mechanically inclined and have the patience to shop around a little bit.&nbsp\\; I bought the hogtunes kit and put on mine. Although now seeing what it involves and is included, it will be coming off soon and I'll build a custom setup.&nbsp\\;
&nbsp\\;
&nbsp\\;If you are riding one up most of the time and dont drag alot of stuff with you, why not think about the streetglide. Its a little sportier and still has most of the electraglide features we all love.

Cruise is a must for touring.&nbsp\\; Not only keeps you speed under ticket range, it's great to be able to rest your hands and arms.&nbsp\\; I love the lowers in the rain - wet boots are impossible to get comfortable in.

I ride with wings, Visions and other UCs and use the CB a lot when we're touring.&nbsp\\; It's great to be able to discuss the next stop, tell your buds when it's safe to pass and find each other when traffic lights seperate you.
&nbsp\\;
My wife loves the intercom - no more yelling over the exhaust rumble and crosswinds.
&nbsp\\;
If I rode 1 up most of the time and with other bikes that don't have CBs, I'd consider a Classic with removeable lowers,

why not try the standard? cheaper than all the above and rides just as good! add tourpack and cruise and its better!

I love my Ultra and wouldn't trade down BUT, I've never had a reason to use the intercom or the CB.&nbsp\\; Could have done without them.&nbsp\\; I like the 4 speakers (added 2 more in the lowers) and I can't be without cruise control!
