Default Black and chrome oil filters the same?

Looking at the HD oil filters.

The Chrome one, according to the manual is for the 1200C. The black one, for everything else.

Are the black and chrome ones suitable replacements? Identical even?

Chrome is more expensive (and uglier)....that's about it.&nbsp\\;[8D]

According to my dealer either one will work. Your choice, black of 3 bucks more for chrome.

I like the chrome one cause I can see myself in it while I'm screwing it onto the bike.

And if you like LOTS of chrome, you can use HD filter 63813-90T. It is longer (higher capacity) than the standard filter. I run it in the summer months for a bit of extra cooling.

&nbsp\\;I agree with piginablanket except I like looking at myself in it while getting screwed by the dealer.&nbsp\\;

I like the chrome, adds a bit of pizzazz to the boring side of the engine.
