Just wanted to post about my experience getting my dent in my tank removed. I found on the internet a guy that does paintless dent removal on gas tanks. Was really impressed and my tank looks like my turn signal bulb never left a big nasty dent in it! \\;[:@]
Took about and hour and a half to get it done and really just a professional job through and through. Im honestly not one to promote a company, but this is an exception I am glad to make. He's self employed and his credentials are impressive given how bad my dent was and how seemless it looks. The website honestly proves it. He was able to get it to 99% percent before collision condition, however some paint came off in my fall there and need to have it touched up. With some wetsanding and new clearcoat for the paint, Im 100% sure that it will look like nothing ever happened.
The guy's name is Vince and he's got a website @ www.dentsnomore.com Easiest way to get a quote is to send him a pic of the dent and the year an model of your bike. There may be some tanks he cant do, but luckily my tank had the access plate on top of the tank and was able to work his magic. For having a not so common color, I got to keep my original tank and didnt need to have it stripped, bondoed and repainted.

RE: For all in SoCal, the dent in my tank is GONE.
I'm going to give him a call. I have a dent in the back of my front fender where a misaligned frame mounted oil cooler dented it from braking. I've ignored it because you really can't see it, but I know it's there. Ebeattie, how much did his service cost you?

In one of the help sections there was an article about doing this your self, something about putting dry ice on it and then putting a heat lamp on it and most of it may pop back, I believe it was posted by a HDTECH

Well, i cant give an exact number but im close to somewhere like the about page on his website lists.Ill say that its totally reasonable and worth it for the service they provide. \\; Was told that each case is different. So depending on the severity and degree of difficulty, the price could be very different from what I paid.
I have no problem vouching for his skill. Simply amazing!

Dry ice left on there has the very real possibility of damaging the paint. Especially when performing a very rapid change in tempurature. Massaging out a dent had to have use of a heat gun to get the paint to a warm enough temperature that it could withstand the metal being reformed. Im sure that it could work, but you dont see many factory paint jobs like on my bike and I didnt want to take any unnecessary risk further damaging my tank. Bad enough I damaged it to begin with.

I actually took a course on Paintless dent repair. I spent three days doing it and I really sucked at it. It's a real talent that some have and some dont'. I certainly don't.
Thanks for the reference. I will keep that website handy.
