I think the only clean way to do it is to get a wideglide or a lowrider tank, but that will get expensive real quick.&nbsp\\;
&nbsp\\;
I put a chrome housing on mine and left it there and is doesn't stand out quite as much.

I've got a 2008 FXD and love everything about the bike but the speedo.&nbsp\\; I like it on the bars but wish there was an option to place underneath instead of on top.&nbsp\\; Does anyone know if the speedo for the sportster will work.&nbsp\\; They look good and would be a cheap option.

The Sportster Custom set-up will work on the Super Glides.&nbsp\\;\\\\\\; The indication lights will require some modding.&nbsp\\;\\\\\\; Try doing a search here.&nbsp\\;\\\\\\; There are guys who have done this and posted details.

The chrome housing WildBill has looks awesome. There are some guys that went with a&nbsp\\;\\\\\\;Diamond Digital&nbsp\\;\\\\\\;(great tech look). Then of course there is the Sportster Custom switch which some have done and looks very good. The latest Ive seen is this from the Sportster forum which has you relocate the speedo to an engine mount but leave the idiot lights on the bars. Heres some pics of each option.

Posted and hand built by fishboy for sportsters but should work for FXD owners.

Or just paint it like mine.

move it to the rocker box! you can get empty guage brackets for the boxes... then just put a speedo in it... VERY easy

Same here. I like the simsjam style Sportster mount, too, especially with shorter bars.
