Default Fuel filter shell change complete

Took about 1/2 hour-45 minutes to do.&nbsp\\; Here are some pics.&nbsp\\; Console removed and cam lock ring shown.&nbsp\\; I took a piece of flat iron and tapped it with a rubber mallet gently working my around each tab until it was free

Cam ring out and pulling guts out

Filter shell removed.&nbsp\\; Noticed I left the filter and everything intact.

Hard to see, but mine did have stress cracks in the corners of each tab.

Another shot

New shell on the left, old on the right.&nbsp\\; Notice the upgraded tabs on the new one.

Another shot.&nbsp\\; Again, hard to see but there is a better/thicker ridge on the new tabs (on the left again)

The new one is on the top left, notice the change in the spot where the fuel pressure regulator sits. There are ribs inside that too

Very nice Dawg.
Thank you for that, this will make it much easier in the future.
Question:
Did you change any hoses or put any shields on the hoses?

Thanks, my new one is supposed to be here this week. My dealer said they were not on backorder now. Is that correct?

I called my dealer the other day and asked if they had had any in with the broken shell and they said no. With our trip to Milwaukee next month, I would feel better having it replaced. How much is the new shell? From looking at your pics, Hubby should have no problems doing it himself. Thanks Dawg

About $35 for the shell. $7-8 for the gasket kit.

pretty easy to do, I did mine by removing it completly from the bike, I dropped one of the hoses inside the tank, but I just reached in and grabed a hold of it, and snapped it on.

Great info...However, what did you do with&nbsp\\;the filter?&nbsp\\; Did you change any hoses or gaskets?&nbsp\\; If so, what do we need to order to get the job done (part# please)?&nbsp\\; Was the reassembly the reverse of removal? &nbsp\\;Anything remarkable about the reassembly?&nbsp\\; Did you use the flat bar to secure the cam lock ring?&nbsp\\; Any torque's (I have a tendacy to over-torque) we need to be aware of?&nbsp\\; And Yes those of you that are asking...I do have a shop manual.&nbsp\\;
Regardless as to whether or not you're able to post anything additional,&nbsp\\;your info &amp\\; pics have&nbsp\\;really help a lot of us out and made what seemed to be a VERY confusing and HOT-button issue, fixable.
Again, great post!&nbsp\\;&nbsp\\;
