Default Rattle from primary

I have an 04 fatboy. I get a rattleing sound from the primary when accellerating from 2700 to 3500 RPM. Ive adjusted the primary tensioner and retorqued the compensator nut. Everything looks fine. The engine runs good and strong. Shifting is smooth. I did install a Screaming Eagle ignition module.The carb was rejetted to enrichen the mixture. My mileage went from 39 MPG to 34 MPG so I know its not too lean.I thought it might be a detonating sound but you only hear it on the left side. ANY IDEAS?????&nbsp\\;&nbsp\\; Thanks

I am Assuming you had you primary cover off,was the compensator nut loose? If so Dis you inspect you rotor assy for worn splins, , if the splines are worn it could be shifting on the crankshaft.
&nbsp\\;
Are you sure the noise is coming from the primary, noises can be tricky they have a way of transmitting through other componets even though they are coming from somewhere else

The primary cover was off and the compensator nut was not obviously loose. All parts appeared to be OK on visual inspection.

Sounds like a ping to me. Try a few easy things.
&nbsp\\;\\\\\\;
1. Change your brand of gasoline.
2. check your jiffy rubber gromet to make sure the jiffy is not hitting the frame (mine did that)
3. read your spark plugs
&nbsp\\;\\\\\\;
What oil are you using? I got some top end rattle from HD syn3 that disappeared when I changed to Mobil1Vtwin
&nbsp\\;
note: 2700-3500 is in your power curve so I think it is detonation and may be related to the SE ignition.

Well if it is a pinging issues, look at the basics first, what grade of gas are you using, should be nothing less than premium , from a reliable source, i.e stay away from mom &amp\\; pop gas stations.
Secondly Did you just install the se ingnition becuase or do you have other performance work done ?
Is it a programable one or fix application ?
If it is programable then you may want to adjust your spark curve,
Try this first though remove it &amp\\; reinstall you stock one &amp\\; see if the noise goes away , then look at the above mention items
