I think you're a little confused. There is no gear whine, clatter or any other noise in the Screaming Eagle 6spd gearset. It's a great transmission. I have well over 60K miles on mine in my '03 Heritage and it has performed flawlessly for each and every mile. \\; The Screaming Eagle 6spd is an overdrive transmission. The transmissions the have been complained about in this forum are the factory direct drive 6 speeds installed in the '06 Dynas and all the '07 and '08 bikes. These are the transmissions that have had noise problems.

+1
I recently went with the 6 speed gearset, best money I've spent. No whining or clatter. Clunk is not as noticeable, also went with the auto primary chain tensions since we were in there. Not needed but I thought why not.

Put some Amsoil SVO 75-140 oil in the transmillion and it will help any whine.
Haven't heard of any bike breaking down on account of a gear whine either.
Bike needs to break in, which is over 5000 miles .

Andrews makes a kit to fix yer problem also.
I'm just wondering which is going to be the better Trans. Screaming Eagle 6 speed v.s. Baker 6 speed. I'm assuming the Baker, but I have no personal knowledge to base that on.

I looked at cost, my SE 6 gearset was considerably less expensive than the entire trans, HD 6 speed unit and the DD6 unit. Labor is about the same. Keeping it all HD was the other factor in my decision, plus my research that the SE 6 gearset is "better" than the standard HD 6 speed. I am happy with my decision and have only put about 800 miles on it so far, but am getting ready for a 5K mile trip next month. JMHO[sm=smiley20.gif]

I think the DD6 is a final 1:1 ratio which I think is the same as stock 5 speed. Baker makes a 6 speed overdrive which would give you a rpm reduction at cruising speed. It is the Baker OD6
