I'm wondering if he test rode it??
Never heard of that happening b4.
I don't think a HD dealer would do that!!JMHO

He bought the bike and left the dealership with his bike.
&nbsp\\;
The local HD dealership does not check, it's not a requirement for a purchase.&nbsp\\; Even talked to the local dealers this morning on the phone... they all say it's not their job and I agree it's not.
&nbsp\\;
I'm just stunned that they have arrested a salesperson for this.&nbsp\\; Makes you wonder what they do to an individual who sells a bike in a private transaction in this state.&nbsp\\; I've never checked for a cycle endorsement when I have sold a bike and never been asked for mine when I purchased and I'm on bike #4......

From my perspective, I have to agree with the comments by those reading the article. The salesman is not in control of what happens once the customer leaves the lot. Since a lot of motorcycles/scooters/atv's etc. are bought by individuals other than the actual user, a mandate on proper license to purchase would be idiotic. Secondly, the method of compensation to a salesperson of motor vehicles creates a "3-C's" (see the vehicle, see the keys, see 'ya later!)situation. On to the next commission, usually only $25.00. That's how many sales a week to pay a $2k mortgage, $400 car note, etc. Finally, the whole accountability for one's own actions is a long gone concept. It was always so-and-so's fault!

I wonder if the arresting officer was a buddy of the deceased. Also, an arrest is not a conviction. If the law does not require a license for a sale, there is no case. In my state you can buy a bike without the endorsement. Ha, try and take a test ride without the endorsement. Ain't gonna happen. Never heard of such a thing. I bet the sales guy does not get convicted. I hope his dealership covers all his legal expenses, as they should for doing his job.
