Well it never hurts to change oil but it can get redundant and a bit pricy. If you changed the oil at 1000 you can do it again at 5000 with no worries. No better prevention than clean oil but every&nbsp\\;4000 to 6000 miles is sensible.

The dealer is who told me to do the 2500 mile oil change.&nbsp\\; This was the first that I had heard of&nbsp\\;it.

Your owner's manual should say every 5,000 miles. A dealer should not be pushing ahead of the published schedule in the woners manual.

I changed mine out at 2,500 miles. The only reason was to switch everything over to synthetic.&nbsp\\; Since you are already running syn, I would say you are good to go until 5000 miles, unless your owner's manual states differently.&nbsp\\;

I've never had a dealer suggest a 2500 oil change. My suggestion would be to find an honest dealer, cause you're talking to a stealer.

The 2500 oil change is for severe service such as extreme heat and or dusty areas. I live in Sierra Vista Arizona which is almost on the Mexican border. I bought Harley's maintenance program and they change my fluids every 2500.

I change my oil every 2500 miles during the summer, spring and fall months because it is so hot.&nbsp\\; The other fluid I change every 5000 miles.&nbsp\\; I changed it after 2000 miles the other day because of a long trip and the tranny and primary fluid was still gold.

My dealer says you don't have to do a 2,500 to maintain the warrenty, but they do recommend it. Heres a list of what HD recommends for 2,500 and what my dealer does.
