After my CV convertion I had some popping when the engine was cold, after warmup it went away. Per my FM I adjusted the idle RMP to 950-1000. I then raised the idle RPM a little more and the popping stopped completely, even when cold.

What size carb do you have? 38, 40, 42, 44? What venturi /jetsize combos should be used?

If you are getting popping while running or at idle, you may have an air leak at the manifold 'O' rings. Warm up the engine and run it up to 2000 rpms to see if it 'pops'. If so, spray water around the manifold where it meets the heads. This will temporary seal any air leak and end the popping (for the moment). If that makes a difference pull the manifold off and replace the O rings, being careful to have them positioned correctly when you put it all back together.......piniongear
