Default Sportster Rake

I have a 98 1200 and was thinking about changing the trees to add a 5 degree rake. I will be keeping the narrow glide but if I do this do I need to change my forks or can I simply just put on the new trees and ride away? Also, is there anyplace that has an afordable set for 39mm forks?

Thanks!

You can change it without changing anything on your forks, but if you do the handling will be drasticly changed at moderate speed and higher (35+mph) If you really want to change the front end consider a seeger cycle conversion, they are slick and don't change the handling.

I've been looking into that change myself. It comes down to what they refer to as rake and trail. The bottom line is, SPEED WOBBLE!!! If you want rake you have to change it at the frame neck if you don't want to die!

not wanting to die? That's a little extreme example don't you think. Severe injuries should do it.
