SH Bob,

The sheets need to be centered a little better I can't read what they say it is difficult to follow what is happening when viewing the files. Are there three blocks on the sheet? I have yet to figure out how to post pictures correctly myself yet. Will need to spend an evening testing it out myself.

okay, ive been having a problem with mine. so here goes.
o3 rkc
yes i have a service manual and can read/understand it, no, i do not have the electrical manual (loaned it to a friend?)
left on off switch has red power light
at first, it would work, come on, and then shut off for no reason
at times, it would work for a bit, then go off, kinda the problem was intermittent
now it wont work at all
i did the code check, im getting a 112 throttle roll off
i read the section on the CC, but, what should i look for? from my reading, i need to check the throttle cables and idle cable which comes from the cruise module? i need to check the module for oms, (im an electrical contractor, i have and know how to use the meter), and adjust the cable if needed?

things ive done since before it broke
i put on a seat, gently moved the cable plug under there to accomadate my new backrest
put on grips, (could throttle cable adjustment be affecting this?)
adjusted my handle bars, but cc not working before this

correct me if im wrong, o, please poor shovelheadbob, please guide me with your vast wisdom :)

I installed the cruise last May on our 02 RK.  Works wonderfully well.  However, while vacationing in the Gulf, we found that while the cruise is engaged, if you hit a rather large bump in the road, the cruise will automatically disengage.  Not sure if this is a built in safety device or what.

Throttle Cable adjustment is more than likely the culprit....

Vehicles with Cruise have a different Throttle/Idle Cable adjustment.....

The cables need a bit more slack in them, due to the Roll-Off switch...

thanks bob, that is what i was thinking, but i did slacken both of them yesterday, and to no avail, cc is still not engaging.
so i guess im gonna just have to turn some wrenches today and find out what is the problem.

its driving me crazy, cuz i have nerve damage which causes my hands to go numb, and the cc allows me to relax my right as well as my left hands.

i'll keep yas posted on this

okay, update

i check continuity at the cc module across the 2 wires my manual calls out, it is infinity, which it should be in a closed throttle position.
when i twist the throttle, it stays at infinity, this is bad

i checked it at the roll off switch, which seems to have some physical damage, probably from when i laid it down last year
i unpluged the connectors, got the same readings, always open

now, i moved the switch connectors, kinda twisted the whole switch so the 2 sta-kon connectors were pointing down, now i get continuity across those 2 connectors.

so, do i assume the roll off sw/idle cable is NG and replace it?
is there a way i can jump out the connections and get the cc to work so i can be sure it is the cable before replacing it?

like, if i put a temp toggle switch and connect it accross the connectors that go to the roll off sw, i leave temp sw off, then ride the bike, and then flip sw so it has continuity, should the cc work? or does the cc get other data from other places such as the ecm or tach?

i'd like to trouble shoot all of it before i start ordering anything.
it would pizz me off to no end to take the time to replace the cable only to find out something else is bad
