My neighborhood home owners organization brought up a complaint about my bike. To loud. Now I only ride about 4 days a week. Never here in the neighborhood. Now my neighbor has a bike with loud pipes. He's cool. Can they do anything about this?
Nope, never had that problem, but have heard some real horror stories. Worst they can do is kick your bike out of the neighborhood. Suggest a meeting with the Neighborhood Association to explain your side of the story and come to an equitable solution before thing go further.
Fully agree w/ both BlackOak and Thomas on this one. Associations can either be helpful or harmful, depends on whose at the helm. But street legal is the key.
I am not sure about you "associations" in the US, but over here (if one exists) they have no power, if it is street legal - ignore them.

You need to check with the city to see if you pass their test. If they give the green light your HA can only change the rules for new bikes coming in since you are existing......but go to the meeting and be prepared to sue them if they try to change the rules. Make certain you take notes and a video or tape recorder. My buddy sent his attorney to a HA meeting with a video camera to "get the facts" and had the attorney question the president of the HA and officers about their own personal liability and indemnification against descrimination lawsuits. It cost him $300 but he never heard another word. Just an idea.

Hope I don't scare ya, but depending on how your Association's covenants are written, "street legal" may not matter. If they have a noise or nuisance covenant, and the board agrees you are violating it, they can take action.
