Default S&S Carb on 1972 Iron Head?

The carb on my 1972 Iron Head XLCH is leaking around a rubber boot and rather than rebuilding it I thought about getting a used S&S Super "B" from ebay. I was wondering If a S&S Super "B" would work on my bike?
What do I need to look for to make sure it would hook up alright? My current stock carb just has a gas line, a vaccum line, and one throttle cable.

If your current carb has a rubber boot and a vacuum line it isn't a stock carb! The '72 Sporty came with a 38mm Bendix. And the Super B is a good carb, but you won't like it all that much on a street bike. They are fairly hard to tune, and don't have an accelerator pump, which really helps on an S&S on a street bike. I'd say pass on the "B". Look for an "E", instead.

So I take it I'm not wanting a vaccum line? What kind of plumbing does the 38mm Bendix have? I'll take some pics of the carb thats on it and see what you fellas think.

Can a Harley carb gas line get vapor lock like a chevy? Because my gas line sets rite on my head and I spose it gets hotter than hell.

The only plumbing a Bendix, or Zenith as they are also known as, has is the fuel line, and the intake, of course. I have seen one that a po' boy adapted for his Evo by drilling and tapping it for a vacuum line to operate the VOES, but that doesn't really count. I've never seen one get vapor locked, but I s'pose it's possible.

Is theis a butterfly carb, or a slide-type carb?
