Default Throttle Position Sensor Bad??

I was reading an article in American Iron about a guy who was having issues with bike having a miss at around 2500 to 2800 rpm. He found that his TPS was bad. I am having the same issue at low cruise speeds of 15 to 35 mph. I decided to check my TPS. I removed my TPS, took my multimeter and put the leads on the B and C connectors. I get a reading of 2k ohms, as I turn the TPS with scew driver the ohm's start to go up. The resistance rises to about 2.2k ohms then drops down to 1.95 K ohm's, then steadly falls to .7 k ohms at wide open. I do not have a Harley electrical manual, but I do not think that the spike in resistace is correct. If any one can chime in on this, it would be great.

Matt

Default RE: Throttle Position Sensor Bad??

I dont know about 2500-2800 rpm, but ....

Last Sunday, I was on a ride with a pillion and was turning in a tight circle at low revs. The bike "burped" (best description) just enough to cause me to lose balance and down I went. No real damage apart from a couple of small scratches on the underside of the mufflers and a sore knee on my part, but it made me REAL wary.

On the way back home, it did it again at a set of lights while I was stationary so no harm done. I am going on a ride called "The Brass Monkey" (deep in the mountains, cold, temps -10c to -20c) in the weekend so I will be watching that real close.

I will get it checked at the dealer at the next opportunity.
