Will pick up my first Harley, a Heritage Softtail Classic, in February. Was at the dealer today picking out goodies to go with it. He tells me I cannot get an electronic cruise control on a Softtail. I have a mechanical, Brakeaway cruise control on my metric cruiser which works OK, but really wanted a real cruise control. Anybody got any ideas?

Under the right hand controls is a black wheel. Turn that with your thumb until the throttle stays in place but can still be moved if you twist it. I've used that on my many multi-state rides and commuting with no problems.

That sucker takes a little getting used to. My previous three bikes were Metric types, and they had nothing like this. While taking a blast yesterday, I was fooling with it, and it...well...it takes some getting use to.
It's nice be able to take your right hand off the handlebars and put it in your lap, or let it hang, or just move it around.
Not sure why I would need an electronic cruiser with this little gadget already applied...
Exactly right. I have the exact position memorized. I spin it three thumb turns towards me to disengage or just a quick edge of index finger and pull if I'm in a hurry (exiting from the freeway for example). It works like the Throttlemeister (which I'm getting for my wife's bike and my other one) or the Vista Cruiser. Just enough friction to keep it in place.

I put the EZ Cruise from dennis kirk on my bike. Push the button and it locks the throttle, you can still move the throttle if needed, touch the brake and it's off. Just like a car.
