Default Primary tensioners

Getting ready to put in a self adjusting primary tensioner but the more I read on different ones the more confused I get . As I understand it the main reason for the self adj. tensioners is so YOU don't have to adjust it , the Hayden M6 comes with a handfull of shims for initial install or continued maintanance ? How often do you have to check and possibly install more or thicker shims ? Seems like your still making the adjustments just in a different way than the stock set-up plus you have to pull the primary cover to do so , Sorry but I'm not seeing a real advantage in ease of maintanance here ! Can see a plus as far as keeping a constant tension on a belt that is tighter in spots .

Anybody have the REAL TRUTH on the new HD ratcheting design , has anyone had a problem with these personally or is that just hear say ? The hydralic ones sound truely self adjusting but then again I'm hearing stories but nothing first hand . Decisions , Decisions !!

Is the install difficult or does it take some rocket science?

I don't understand, if these are a great idea, why they don't come stock on the engine in the first place. How can saving this few a $ make any difference in sales? And Harley makes one too? Seems like there would be a reason not to do this, but maybe it's only high performance related?

Comments anyone?
