Default Wobble right turning

Hi,
My 1992 electra glide has a problem in the low speed right turning. It seems to have started a couple of weeks ago just after I got a new front tire installed at HD. What is really strange is that I only see it happening when I'm leaving work? I pull out of my parking space and start a slow turn to the right to go into the street. The bike will wobble as you can feel it in the handle bars. This will continue into the street so is doesn't seem to be the pavement in the parking lot.

I try to do low speed turns in other places but have not experienced the problem yet. Other then that the balance seems fine and the bike rides great! I'm wondering if the tire is defective and when it's cold and I turn right at low speeds it shows it's ugly head. Or maybe the forks are having a problem.

Tell me what you think please......

Thanks Mark

Dumb question, but is the cold tire pressure OK?

Interesting as I checked it and found it at 21 lbs. Filled it up to 36 lbs but the next time I made the turn it still wobbled. I thought it had a leak being tubeless and took it back to HD but when I got back there the tire pressure was OK so they "HD" when they put the tire on must have not added the correct air into it.

Again with proper air it wobbles..Crazy....

Does sound a little strange, is the tire bead fully seated all the way around? Also check and make sure the axle nut is properly tightened, as well as the fork pinch tube bolts. If you have a lift, get the front wheel off the ground and spin it, see if the tire sidewalls have any dips in or out, and look for any out of roundness. After all that you might check the axle bearings and steering head bearings if the tire is o-k.

Just some thoughts to try. Let us know what the outcome is.

One other thing you might try is checking the fork tube fluid, maybe it's low or time for a change.

Funny you should mention that, It is the next thing I am doing is changing it out. I have never looked at it since I purchased the bike 3 months ago. It is on my list but had'ent got to it yet. Guess I should change it this weekend.

Any thoughts on an easy way to change it? I have the air shocks with the valve in the left handle bar end. Never done it before...

Thanks all for the thoughts...

Mark

When you were at the dealer, were they able to give you any ideas about what would make it wobble? Is it possible that it might set up a little when it is cold and just needs to warm up a bit to get rid of the flat spot caused by sitting for awhile?

Never worked on air shocks, possibly though a seal maybe leaking or incorrect pressure. good luck.

Sounds like maybe the tyre takes a little time to warm up. Have you reffitted the same type of tyre as before? Is it a match for the rear? Sometimes new tyres do feel a little weird before they scrub in - say up to about 50 miles, but you say its been a couple of weeks now, so its unlikely to be that. Presumably you have checked everything was refitted properly when the wheel went back on? Can't think of anything else to suggest...hope you find out what the problem is.

Been there, done that. You might try testing and setting the steering head bearings. My GUESS and it's just that is a flat spot in the bearing race or they are just a little loose. I know common sense says it should to it turning both ways but my RK only did it on a right turn. One very good mechanic suggested a spot of grit in the right place when you hit a bump and the race is scared. After that this is the area that will wear first.
