<img border="0" src= smileys/smiley16.gif><FONT color=red size=4>How many of you out there would pay to have an old bike restored instead of buying a new one. I'm thinking there are a number of older bikes out there that have a SPECIAL place in someones HEART and might just pay to have it brought back to NEW condtion. Any of you think this is also TRUE?</FONT></P>

You have a good point about restoring a bike that has a special place in you heart.</P>


But, if it's an older HD, even after restored to NEW condition. Well....it wasn't a great bike when it was new.</P>


I see it a lot with cars. Everyone wants that SS or Mustang they remember having so much fun with when they were younger. Now in midlife they buy it and become very dissapointed with it. They forgot all of it's short comings.</P>


Like constant maintance and no place to plug their cell phone in. And here in Florida NO A/C.</P>


Not knocking your idea. I have restored and brought back to life lots of cars. Just it's kind of a specialty area.</P>

Thats why my 79 shovel sits in the patio... someday when I have cash to burn, I will work on that...but it was a bear to ride 10 years ago, and when we got it running last year, it was still a bear to ride... so Ibought one I could ride reliably daily.</P>


I just finished restoration on an '84 montecarlo SS... less than 500 miles since I finished it... but now it just sits... (reason? I'd just rather ride than drive)</P>

If you know what your doing,do it yourself.Ill be paying on my 03 Roadking classic for the 7 years.If you go new its a long time to be paying unless you have cash......
