I'm total newbie to Harleys, and these kind of questions may erk some, but here goes:
I'm am closing a deal (no money exchanged yet) on a 03 FXDL, bone stock, 3020 miles. It was previously owned by an older lady that passed on recently. I'm familiar with this woman and her husband, and they take care of their things. I test drove the bike for an hour, and all seems like-new. As a matter of fact, it ran better than several other like-models I rode. The asking price from a local dealer was $17,495, and I got it for $15,900. This seems awfully close to MSRP. Is this a fair price?
Thanks in advance for your patience!

Good question n2xlr8n, for all practical purposes 3000 miles is new. Just short a little warranty I suppose. From what I've gathered that is probably a fair price.
I'm sure others will be along to add their knowledge to the subject.
Not that I care, but I've heard that the FXDL is considered a woman or small person's bike; is this the perception? If that is in fact the case, I'll have to start wrenching on a new 124 S&S for it
If you are going to throw a new S&S into it, why don't you start from scratch. You can get a good rolling chassis for about$3000, the engine and tranny for about $7,000 - $10,000 and metal, oil tank, rims etc for another 3 or 4 and you will have a similar, but new bike for about the same money.
It's a wimmens bike fer fools who are jealous of it. The Low Rider is a fine machine, easy to handle, and enough power to make riding a pleasure.
Anybody tells you different, just ignore them; they're idjits.

Back to the " Is it a Girls bike " again huh. But Wait, I Thought it was the Sportster's that were Considered " A Girl's Bike ". Why is it that Only Harley seems to have this thing of is it A " Girl's Bike " or Not.
My Next bike will be the FXDX or FXDXI so this time I will Ask Before I buy. Is this Considered a " Girl's Bike "
