What is a 1975 electra Glide worth?

I don't know if this is the right place to ask this but a guy I work with is looking at a 1975 electra glide, just cuz I own a harley he thinks I'm supposed to know everything about all of them, he wants me to go look at it for him. I know nothing about the old ones.
Second question; anyone got any idea's what I should be looking for, potential problem wise?
anyone know of any major issues with these?
Thanks in advance

If it has the old points style ignition, that will be a problem. My old 76 had the Crane HI-4 put in it, and no more problems. There are many other issues that were just "nature of the beast" for the ole shovelheads. Depending on what the bike is, I'd say you are looking in a range of 5-8 grand. Could be more, could be less. If you PM me with more detailed info, I can better tell you. I deal in a lot of bikes and try to stay up on the market.

With pionts there is the need for adjustment. It is a mechanical style with moving parts. The electrical (solid state) convertions can give a hotter spark with more precise timing with little to no maintenance. I have run pionts in my 75 XL for thousands of miles with basic adjusting with out the smallest problem. Then I have thrown 3 sets away until I got a good one. If you keep an extra set with you, they can be changed on the road side to get you home. If the electric burns out, call a tow truck. Electronic ignitions are good but cost more to convert. Not a bad idea if you have more money than time to turn wrenches.

Thirty year old bike? Without seeing it, but assuming it's in running condition, I'd have to agree on the $5K-8K spread. Personally, I don't think I'd pay over $6.5-7K for it, even if it was in excellent condition. I'd like to find a Shovel FLH, but I already realize it's just gonna become another one of my money pits....

There's nothing wrong with points if they are good ones. Blue Streaks for a 250 Chevy 6 banger are the ones I prefer. I've been using them for nearly 15 years and rarely have to mess with them once installed.

about 4500 to 5000 depending on condition of frame, tins, engine. Less if it has an aftermarket engine i.e. Revtec

69mike06FLHX...oouch, now that hurts. I've got a 65 I ride everywhere and am putting a 49 back togeteher. I was thinking how fortunate I am with my pans compared to the guys from the 20s and 30s.
