Last Man Rule (group riding)
Submitted by RK101:
The last man rule is as follows.....
When riding down the road in a large group, if the whole group of riders does not make it thru the light, the last rider that made it thru the light is the sweep. He stays with the first group until the first group makes a right or left hand turn. Then he stays at that turn to wait for the group that didn't make it through the light. Then they all make the turn together and proceed straight until they either catch up to the original group, or the new last man who is sitting at a turn or light. We at the HOG group have used this method for years with great results. This stops large groups of riders from having to pull over and waiting in dangerous places. I know we all try to plan our routes when traveling but construction and accidents can cause sudden changes in those routes. If you follow the last man rule no one will get lost or put in danger, or feel like they need to run any lights.
