Default 07 Ultra...5th gear chatter - HD customer service

Contacted HD customer service today. Explained to them the "chatter" noise in 5th gear. She said that is normal and that she gets many calls each day with the same concern.

This is an ongoing topic on the 07's. You should check out the 2007 noisy tranny thread. Click here for the link Here --->http://www.hdforums.com/m_654370/tm.htm

If it is normal. Why is the MoCo putting a new tranny in my 07 Ultra with 336 miles on the clock? If I was you I would take it back to the dealer. It ain't normal. She was right about one thing though. I bet she does get a lot of calls.

Let's be real about this. When I am tooking down the road the only noise I want to hear is my Xm radio and my pipes. It is NOT normal to heare nois from your transmission in ANY vehicle. Last year I bought an ultra that would backfire and sputter. Harley also stated that they have not had any problems. Then I found out that they changed the degree of the fuel injectors and it was a major well know problem with the '06 touring bikes. Now this. Granted I do not suggest buying or would ever by a jap bike, but they DO NOT make noise in any gear. Do not let HD customer service railroad you into doing away with your common sense. Put more faith in the forums and you HD service centers. A good HD dealer will tell you the truth about issues with the bikes. I got rid of my Ultra and am just sitteng here with my money for Harley to put out a good bike. Last thing I want to hear on the Alaskan highway is my bike rattling.

Im sure HD is getting alot of calls as well as a bad rap so far this yr.I also believe this will be taken care of the same as injectors were. Its the cheapest way for them. The THIS IS NORMAL line is buying them time until something comes of it.Getting a dealer to agree with you now is next to impossible.Youll only get a rep to look at it if you become a pain in the dealers butt,C/S too.I am in this boat now and not expecting the rep to agree either that he hears anything.I am going to be their when my rep rides it and hear the outcome myself.I asked C/S if I could get it hot and have rep witness noise on dyno if need be.I dont think they liked that one.If you dont fight for yourself on the problem, nobody else will.

That must be the same lady I called in 2001 about the racket my new TC88 was making and she told me: See #3 below. Several months later they were installing a new engine in my bike courtesy of the Lemon Law. Of course the new engine started making similar noises shortly there after: See #2 below. Which makes me belive: See #1 below!
