Default Yet Another Pipe Poll

Help me on this, please. I have a '99 Ultra and changed some time ago from stock to S E mufflers for more sound. Now I want more still, but I don't want to wake up the dead nor do I want to sacrifice power. Not sure wether this means entire exhaust change? Just new mufflers?
On a sound scale of 1-5, if stock is 1 and S E is 2 and public enemy is 5, what can you recommmend around 3-4?
The 'hear the actual sound' link on the V & H site is fun, but they all sound fairly similar.

I love my rineharts! To me they sound about a 4, but I had a buddy with a real sensitive ear listen and he contended they weren't that loud as say V&H. It all depends on how much you twist the throttle. Cruising the rumble, but crack the throttle and you will wake up the folks with one foot in the ground...I don't know about the dead.

Thanks, Dynamite. A rider in another forum complained about some quality issues with Rineharts such as broken bracket tab welds and some misc cracking. Not your experience?

Rinehart has since fixed the issues with the broken bracket thing I believe. My V&H's are good enough for me.

I agree with the Rineharts. Best pipes I ever bought but you gotta look around for a good deal on them. They ain't cheap.

I have to vote on the Rineharts. Ebay has some good deals.

And what would you all say re performance with the Rineharts? No change? The SEs mufflers that I have did bring up torque and HP from stock.

Vance and Hines here, 2 sets, both have been great performers and are loud, without pissing off the neighbors or attracting unwanted LEO attention.

I'm gonna step in here w/a vote for the D&D Fatcats. Unique sound & definitely a performance exhaust. Nice deep rumble at idle/cruise but really have a bark when you want em too.
