I made this tool for my softail which has the elongated primary chain hole in the cover out of 1/2 wide bar stock, If you have a touring bike , then you would have the large square opening so the tool would have to be marked differently with the scribe marks. It makes primary chain adjusting such an easy thing to do. All you do is to insert it in the hole and lift up the chain with the tool using the scribe marks at the 5/8 or 7/8 depending if it is hot or cold and line the marks up with the top of the opening in the cover.

If you have the touring model, adjust the chain to specs first , then add the adjustment marks using the chain to obtain the proper adjustment marks on the tool. It will save you a lot of time in the future.
