First off I ride my bike nearly daily to and from work and every other small errand I need to do. My ride to work is roughly 110 miles round trip and I find that my bike rides great and the only complaint is Id like to get my seat reworked with gel inserts and such. Im curious about air suspension though. I hear it rides great (worse or better then stock???) Can I easily ride 2 up with it as well as solo. I like that I can lower the bike once Im at Cooks or somewhere similar but am very concerned with reliability and ride. Input from the guys that have had or have it would be great.
I have the Legend on my Deluxe and the ride is much smoother than stock. Lately though there have been posts about how the system is leaking for some bikes. I never had any problems with my system untill a week ago when it also started to leak. It is at the shop right now getting fixed--I dont know what the problem is. The looks of the bike dropped all the way down are incredible.
How long have you had it before you got a leak and once you got the leak im assuming it was unrideable til fixed correct? Also Im curious as to what they say is the issue and how easily it will be fixed. This is the kind of input im looking for, thanks.
I have the progressive air tail set up with compressor on my bike . I did have some problems with the coil shock in the begining.
also my toggle for the comrpessor went bad . I have had it on for apx 1 1/2 years . The ride is very good .I think anytime you start installing things that aren't oem then you run into occasional problems . If you can hanlde that then go with it . Also if the air comes out of the preogressive set up the coil shock will still get ya home .
I just put the air suspension on mine and the ride is great. You can feel the difference right away. When riding two up you can add more air. When parked you can slam it all the way down for effect. I had a small problem with the solenoid and legends sent a replacement right away. I really have not had it long enough to speak about the reliability at this point.
I just got off the phone with the mechanic and he tells me its all done. Says one of the lines had a pinhole in it, replaced it and now sitting on the lift to make sure it holds pressure over night. I've had this system for about 15 months and I absolutely love it when it works properly, and it has done good till this little set back. I just started another post asking all if they had any opinions as to which system is the best. I thought Legends was the king, but now with their cheap switch housing(they used to give u a chrome rocker box switch housing that looked good---but leaked due to the heat) and the problems with the leaks, I just dont know anymore. Either way, any bike I own has to have air ride on it--benefits out weigh the problems, by far.
I just installed a Platinum air suspension on my 04 deuce. The ride when all the way up is better than the stock. When I lower it 2 inches it is a little firm, about the same or a little firmer than stock. All the way down looks real bad ***. I actually rode it that way. That was a little firm Call DM customs, I got a pretty good deal from them. It was a pretty easy install. I'm no mechanic and I did it myself. I was installing new wheels anyway and had the whole bike apart.
