Default Help convince me to buy a V rod

I posted this in the general chat section as well, but I wanted to hear directly from you V rod owners. I am considering trading in my 2004 Electraglide for a 2007 VRSCDX Nightrod Special. I really enjoy the Glide, but the Nightrod is calling me. What do you guys think? I haven't had a chance to ride one yet, but of course would do so before committing to the deal. What's the general consensus? I know financially I will take a hit, but I am not that concerned about that. What do you ladies think of as a passenger on a V Rod? What are your thoughts and concerns? My wife doesn't ride with me alot, but if it's uncomfortable for her at all, I'll hear about it! Thanks in advance for your input.

Come on guys, so far the majority on HDforums is saying that I have lost my mind to even be considering a V rod. I need some input from you guys that own them.

Default RE: Help convince me to buy a V rod

I love my V-Rod, and I wouldn't trade it for any other Harley. Clearly I'm bias, but I'll try to be objective.

The VRSC models are definitely not touring bikes. I have taken mine for trips 400+ miles, but I don't think I could even come close to outlasting my Brother on his FLHTCUI. Passenger comfort is going to be less on a VRSC model. There are things you can do to improve passenger comfort, but it will never be like your Glide.

The power is simply put as amazing. You will forget you are on a Harley when comparing the VRSCDX to your Glide. The redline is 9000, so it is a whole lot different than what you're use to. I can run probably 45-50 mph faster than my Brother as top speed. You will be more stretched out on the NightRod Special compared to your Glide, but I am only 5'7" and fit perfectly, so don't think you will be stretched too far. Gas capacity is no longer an issue, with all of the '07 VRSCs having 5 gallon tanks (This is my only complaint about the model)

Most of HDForums rides air-cooled bikes, so I would expect that to be the typical response. I would imagine they are all just as bias as me though.

Ride a V-Rod, then you will know which way you want to go. It is a different feel.

I read it!!! Thanks for you input. I didn't want multiple threads on the same subject, but I didn't seem to have anyone familiar with the V Rods giving any advice so I thought I would pose the question directly at them.
Thanks again.

Popular opinion, on HDForums, is to keep your bagger, but only you can make the decision. Best of luck no matter which way you go.

Thanks for your input!! It's great to be hearing some positive comments from V Rod owners. My mind is pretty well made up, I am going to the dealer tommorrow to see how much of a beating I am going to take if I trade my bagger.

Jerry,
I sold the truck and bought a dx. I still have a road king custom. dx is a bad ass bike. can't compair with the king. soooo much power. But if you ride a lot can't beat the king. best thing is test ride one.
