man - I like what I see going on here.

After riding to and from Daytona ( was on the bike about 6 hours) I noticed some tailbone soreness.
I have a mustang seat (one of the wide ones) and I'm thinking it's from straightening up all the way and bowing my lower back to fit the backrest which is too far forward causing the tailbone to rest on/near the backrest mounting bracket. I'm going to noodle around with the backrest at the house and hopefully I can adjust it a bit, but if not I'll need the seat modded.

If I can't get it the way I want, would you be interested in re-padding or re-shaping a mustang seat? I know you originally made this thread for stockers. I'll include pics of what it looks like.

I'm 6'4" and 260ish lbs (been dieting.. hehe) and not sure if I could take too much of a height drop or being pushed forward. The bike is super comfy for 2 hour rides, 6 was a bit high.

From the pictures you Mustang looks like the mod will work on it. Some Mustangs it wont because of the covers design.

Is there anything you can do with a Mustang Vintage Solo seat to move the rider a little farther forward? I like the width of the seat and the padding is pretty comfortable on a long trip, it would just be nice to be move a little farther forward as Mustang does not offer this as an option.

unfortunately no. The Mustang seat covers are pop riveted to the metal seat pans and if I added foam in the back it would require a new cover. Now if you wanted me to make a new cover then yes. I try to keep all of my mods as simple as possible to save you guys money, Now what you could do is go back to the stock seat which I can reshape like the Mustang and add foam to move you forward and the stock cover would fit back on. The Mustangs shape is what my mods are based off of.

Starting on Nov 17th I will be offering memory foam installation along with the seat mods. I will remove and re-shape allot of the stock foam for a better rider friendly shape and install memory foam which is medical grade 5.5 lb memory foam that is two inches thick. This works really good and the memory foam can also be installed on the passenger pillions which helps allot. Driver's seat cost is $85 plus shipping and passenger pillion is $60 plus shipping. I dont think you will find anybody who can or will beat my prices on these new mods.

BadX,
I have a 05 Deluxe. I am 5'10" and need to be back in the saddle a liitle further. Height is no problem as I do not need to be lower, just further back. I can feel the pressure on my tail bone at times. Have you did any work like this on the Deluxe? Thanks.

All the time dude, that is the number one complaint and again this all goes back to the shape of the seat.

You have peaked my curiousity. I have the HD Pilllow look touring seat on a 2000 Road King, tell me you can move me down about 1 -1 1/2 inches and back and you'll have my business. I use the backrest and am interested in the memory foam. Look forward to your reply.

Adding the memory foam will keep you in a stock seating location, I remove all the foam i can and replace it with the memory foam which pretty much fills in the voided space. It may lower you a 1/2" but that is it. Now going without the memory foam i could drop you that far easily and the seat would be more comfortable also.

BUMP...and I dont recall mentioning it but I also offer a ride in service. I mod the seat while you wait and custom fit the seat to you. Best of all....its the same price. I've had guys ride in from Virginia, Tenn, SC and Georgia...oh yeah and from Florida. The shop is about 45 mins from the Blue Ridge parkway and 45 mins from Charlotte. This does require appointment though but I am pretty easy to work with. I am booked pretty solid through Christmas but the week of Christmas I am off work so I can work people in pretty easy.

Thanks to everyone who has sent their seats. You guys have kept me hopping, I haven't been posting much because I am covered up right now but I am starting to see some day light. School is coming to a end for this semister, I have finals next week and going into finals my grade point avg right now is 3.8 which I am happy about and being able to do this working 44-48 hours a week at a full time job and modding seats on the weekends and of course getting to ride my SG when I can. For those that are intersted I am working on a Mechanical Engineering degree....math is fun.....RIGHT Thanks guys.

**EDIT** I almost forgot. Be sure to check out the new page design. I had a guy contact me about modding his seat and he told me he does webdesign so he worked me up a new page that I think rocks.

Allen, I just received my pillow-look touring seat and all I can say is WOW, what a differance. Your quality is first rate and I am sure that it will be an improvment in comfort. If my bike wasnt tore down for the winter rebuild I would be out putting some miles on the seat. Thanks again. Please PM me with a quote and shipping cost's for the police seat modification.
Thanks again
Hal

Now that my riding season is officially over here in NY, it's time to follow up on the seat mod I asked about earlier. I have no problem having a new cover made for the Mustang seat if the seat foam can be reconfigured. The Mustang sits you up a little and as a final mod I was wondering if the seat height (or foam thickness) can be reduced a little, maintaining the general shape of the seat and moving me forward an inch or so? A new cover in either vinyl or leather is okay, I'm not in love with the stock Mustang cover as it is.

Let me know what can be done in either leather or vinyl, the cost and if it is possible to go with a black surround on the seat with a different color seat surface, say something that is more in line with the color of the bike? Mine is Sierra Red Metallic, sort of a burgundy color.

What the hell, the bonus money has to be spent on something and having a customized Mustang seat isn't the worst way to go, depending on options and cost. Just asking as it looks like you have a lot of happy customers on this Forum already.

Thanks.

Actually your best bet to get a side color you want is buy it local and send it with your seat, the black part I have but trying to get a color to match your paint would not knowing the color personally would be a shot in the dark for me.

one seat with conchos and studs

One with just studs

And here is a sneak peak at a soon to be offered custom cover that was done to a seat off a custom the picture was taken at work

Okay, if I can find a color match locally and send it along, any idea how much the mods I mentioned might run? Also, if I can't find a close color but went with a leather seat cover, ballpark, what are we looking at for a new cover and the proposed mods?

Any idea on what weight or thickness of vinyl I should be looking for?

Hi BadX,

I've got a 2006 Sportster 1200C and the stock seat makes my butt numb and hurts my low back after about an hour or so of riding. In a worse case senario I even start to get a charlie horse in my left calve. What fun that is. I am 5'8" and about 250 lbs. I would like to have better low back support with the seat. At this time the passenger pillion does not get used as I ride solo but I plan on putting a sissy bar on it and set it up to do long rides once the pain issue is resolved. What can you do to the stock seat and about how much would it cost? I don't want to get a new seat if the stock one can be fixed. Any help on this would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks and Happy New Year,

Earnie

Earnie,

I can either reshape the seat to fit you better($40 plus return shipping cost) or I can reshape the seat and add memory foam to it($85 plus return shipping cost)  The basic reshape will help allot but adding the memory foam will help allot on the loooong rides.

Thanks,
Allen

Allen,

Sorry for not getting back to you sooner.  The price sounds really good to me.  What I would like to do is to get another stock seat and have it modified with the memory foam.  Thursday, Friday and yesterday I rode it for about 100 miles each day and I noticed that it seemed the curve of the back of the seat just didn't fit right.  It felt like I was sitting to far back for the curve of the seat.  Is this what most Sportster riders complain about for the stock seat?  Anyway, as soon as I can get another stock seat to have modified I will let you know.

Thanks,

Earnie
