Not this year.  We are building a new shop but hopefully next year we will be going to several rallys to do the mods.

I am hoping to have a trailer set up next year to go to the rallys.  I want it setup to do the seat mods and make custom covers right there on the spot.  We are planning to go to Myrtle Beach for the Spring rally but will be there as riders and taking some time off to enjoy what we like doing the most....riding

Well I made the trip to the shop last weekend. I can tell you that his attention to detail is super. Great guy real easy to work with and I am extremly hard to please when it comes to my bike. The seat sits great I'm looking forward to many pain free miles. If anyone is thinking about doing this I'd say go ahead and do it you won't be disappointed.

BEEN READING ALL THESE MESSAGES, SOUNDS LIKE SOMETHING I NEED TO HAVE DONE TOO! READ ONE THREAD WHERE YOU'RE ONLY 45 MIN. FROM CHARLOTTE AND BLUE RIDGE PKWY. I LIVE IN WEST STATESVILLE, NOT TO FAR AWAY TO RIDE FROM. I HAVE AN '04 ULTRA AND BOUGHT A PRO PAD TO HELP WITH PAIN & NUMBING OF LOWER BACK AND PELVIC AREA.  I THOUGHT ABOUT BUYING LOWERING SUSPENSION. BUT I ALREADY DRAG ON SOME CURVES AS IT IS. LIKE THE IDEA OF LOWING THE SEAT ABOUT 2" OR SO, WOULD THIS BE POSSIBLE AND STILL HAVE COMFORT? THANKS FOR YOUR INPUT. WHERE IN MAIDEN IS YOUR SHOP, MY BODY SHOP IS ON HWY 70  1/2 MILE WEST OF OLD MOUNTAIN RD.

Maiden is between Gastonia and Hickory off Hwy 321 or you can go straight down 40 west to 321 south and get off on Startown Rd exit and the shop is about 10 mins from the exit.  I am working 7 days a week with the exception of this weekend, I have National Guard duty so you could ride in any time.  I think lowering you some and reshaping the seat would really benifit you allot.  I could some shaping and let you go ride a little bit and come back and tweak it in to suit you best.

Thanks for the kind words bro and instead of a beer at MB for bike week I think I am going to need a 1/5 of JB.  You saw how many seats were here when you got your seat done...double that...LOL

Looking into buying a new 2007 Soft tail custom.  It has the big stock barkalounger seat on it.  I am 6'1" tall and about 240lbs.  I am thinking about getting 3" forward control extentions because it feels a little tight, could you mod the stock seat to avoid having to get the extentions?  If so, woudl you recommend moving the seat down and back or just back?

I haven't modded a 07 Softail custom yet so I am not sure how far I could move you back honestly.

Just got back from trying to find your shop, I went right on startown rd. all the way to the stop sign. Did I go the right way? I went past  mini storage building and Lincolnton middle school. Is it that far down. thanks for reply. It was a good little ride, about 40 miles and 46 degrees, windy too.

Opps,  I just gave general directions...sorry.  You turn off Startown Road onto Biggerstaff Road about a mile down Biggerstaff, the shop is on the left.  I wasn't there today till late,  I had national guard duty but did get down afterwards to do some grading, they are coming to pour concrete for the new shop on Tuesday.  Sorry about that man.

I'm 6'5" tall and would like to know what you can do or how far you can move back and still leave room for the wife. Have you modded any seats for people of my height and if so were they happy with the room they got? Thanks Bill

I am guessing this is a RK Classic..?  If so, I can move you back about3"s and keep a very close to stock height, if its the softail classic I haven't had one come through the shop just yet.  On the other models I have done similar mods for people your height and taller and it helped allot.

Thanks,
Allen

PS...it wont effect the passenger part of the seat.

Depending on how you sit in the seat, 2-3"s.  Still no effect on the passenger seat.  I've done quite a few of these for guys on the board, moving them forward and back and lower for that matter.  Its a good seat to modify and looks stock once put back together also.

I was wondering how low and back you can mod a stock 06 1200XLC two up seat. I am 6'5" and 280lbs. Was thinking about getting a new seat but if you can drop me down and back AND increase comfort I'm all for that. Is the memory foam a lot more comfortable than the stock foam?
I would consider all options as long is the comfort is increased!

For anybody still thinking about doing the mod, let me tell you first hand how good it was. Got ready to go to Daytona lasst week from Indiana. Got seat mod back the day before I left and hadnt rode it. Trailered the bike part way until it came loose in the trailer(dont ask) and scuffed my paint a little on a saddle bag latch.. After cussing, throwing stuff, and being severly pi$$ed off, etc, I unloaded in Nashville TN at 10 am and rode mine the rest of the way following everyone else I was with. I would ride 140-160 miles and get gas, hop right back on and keep going. Arrived where I was going ( a relatives) at 8:30 that night. Rode  between 700-800 miles one shot and was on the bike for over 10 hours. I am 6' tall and 290 lbs. There is NO WAY I could have done this before the mod. Although it looks stock still, I can tell I am back a little bit, and the seating area is flatter distributing my weight instead of feeling like I was on my tail bone the whole time like before. Since I broke my tailbone in the past, this helped a bunch. Anyways, this was a personal best for me doing 700-800 miles in one whack. Kinda proud of it, can you tell? Left home with 605 miles on the bike, and came home with close to 1900 ... so was a good time. Thanks again to Allen for the superb work. Now, for everyone else, get that seat down to him!

there is alot of reading here.
I am taking delivery of a 07 SG. i have not even rode it yet. but my 96 EG was uncomfortable to ride long distance so i purchased a gel pad to put on top that helped alot. would it be possible to send the seat and the gel pad and have you install it and lower the seat some? i am 6'1" tall but only have a 32" inseam so from the waist down i am like a 5'10" guy and from the waist up i am like a 6'4" guy. i was also hoping to have you narrow and thin the rear part of the seat. then i have a buddy that gave me his RK seat (same seat but diffrent stiching and material) i would like to have you widen the rear seating surface on that one and lower the front seat and add the memory foam all the way through on this one.
and i am not sure if i would want any movement front or backwards.
is this all possible? and what would the seat mod cost on each?
i would have time as i could use each seat while waiting for the other..

I would be willing to install it but for the best comfort memory foam is about 10 times better.  If you would email or PM me for pricing.  I just dont like posting stuff like that on a open forum.

Thanks,
Allen

For your size I would definitely recommend going memory foam or the double decker mod.  I can move you back 2-3 inches and keep you close to a stock height doing the memory foam mods.

thanks,
Allen

Hi Allen,

I contacted you in late December about modifying my 06 Sportster seat with adding the memory foam to it. After riding for about an hour my butt goes numb and my back starts to hurt as well. I have also had my calves start to get charlie horses in an extreme case. I don't think that I need to be moved forward any but if you think it would help I am willing to discuss it with you. I was also wondering if adding some memory foam to the passenger pillion would help with the lower back support or not. It may be worth doing for riding two up, what do you think? I would like to know what you think needs to be done and what it will cost. By the way I am 5'8" and 250 lbs and I am planning on some long rides this year.

Any help that you can give would be appreciated.

Thanks,

Earnie

Earnie,  I would definitly do the memory foam mod, possibly even the double decker.  As far as adding memory foam to the passenger pillion to build it up, I dont thing that will work.  Reshaping the back of the seat would do this though.  Just shoot me a email and we can get into more detail man.  allen@meancitycycles.com

Good evening Allen, how goes the new construction?  I'm still looking at sending in my Mustang seat as we have discussed, give me the word and let me know the best way to ship it, can't wait for the results.

Thanks.

Email me what all you would like done.  From the looks of what your talking about the cost would range from $90-125 depending on the memory foam modification choice you would select plus the return shipping cost.

Turn around time is around 2-3 weeks right now.

Hey Jay.  For your size I would just go with the memory foam but the double decker would be good also with a even more plush feel.  The address is
MeanCityCycles
3948 Biggerstaff Rd
Maiden, NC 28650

If you have any other questions please feel free to email me allen@meancitycycles.com

Thanks,
