As a native of East Tennessee and life-long Volunteer fan, I have been following SEC football all my life. There is no doubt in my feeble mind that top-to-bottom, the SEC is the toughest conference in the land. Agree? Disagree?
One of my best Bro's is a PSU fan and I have been there for a couple of games in the cow pasture (sportin' some orange of course). I agree that the Big Ten has a tough conference, but once you get past OSU, MICH, and PSU, what do you have left? The SEC has TN, FL, AUB, LSU, ALA, GA - any of which can go all the way on a given year and the SEC normally has 5-6 teams in the top 25. Plus, to make it to a National Championship game we still have to make it out of a Conference Championship game!! I really think either ALL conferences should have a Championship game or none of them should. Really puts an SEC team at a disadvantage....IMO!!
The SEC has some good teams regularly, and many years the Big10 and Big12 have a list to rival that. But this year they are more narrowed, with the Big10 having maybe 3-4 of their teams being good (OSU,UM,UIa,PSU/MSU), and the Big12 being mostly UT and Mizzou, w/OU an also ran.
The OLD Southwest Conference. I hate that that it went to the Big 12. Couldn't beat Texas, Texas A&M and OU for a great fall schedule. Go University of Texas.
BIG 10 without a doubt. SEC has some really good teams, but about half the conference are laydowns. Every game in the big 10 is a battle, it may look like some of the teams suck, but they play harder than any other conference. PAC 10 and big 12 are a joke at best.
