Pre-Dyna. Find an FXR. Best handling frame HD made, and they are getting sorta scarce.

Gotta agree. Find a bike that hasn't been abused, and you're in for a world of happiness. Carbs rule in a world of EPA electronics.

I’ve been thinking about maybe building a full on Softail bagger. Sort of a Heritage Ultra the whole 9 yards faring, lowers, glass bags, tour pack just for something different. Start out with maybe a wrecked 90's Heritage.

If I were going with an EVO, it would definetly be an FXR. Preferibaly an FXRS-SP, like in 87 lowrider's pic above. Very stiff frames, plus I think the motor looks better in the FXR frame than in a Dyna frame. If you could find a police bike, they can be had for a good price also. Just my .02 pesos.

Keith,

I bought a used 1987 FXR in mid-summer 1987 with 1025 miles on it. What a sweet ride. I wished it had been belt drive, I believe that change was made the next year. Your bike reminds me of it. Mine was two tone Crimson and Brandywine. It handled great. You'd love it.
