I ain't buying it one bit.
That pilot could not bring that plane in with out crashing?? [sm=dontgetit.gif]
Holly ****, I'm a single engine land pilot(VFR) and we trained on loss of power and emergancy landing and all that stuff.
If I remember correctly, isn't an F-18 a twin engine? If so the chances of a single bird taking out both engines is pretty remote. I believe the plane could fly on one engine. Now an F-16 being a single engine might be a different story. Just a thought.
Well it d@mn sure came down! Can an F18 take off on one engine? I'm sure one can maintain flight and land on one but that take off thing gets dicey with a sudden 50% loss of power. It is hard to believe that one bird could cause that but once those engines come apart and pieces start shooting around your 2nd engine could get fooked up too. Fuel lines could go bye- bye and the pilot is left trying to fly a brick. Interesting vid.
i was refueling a h-46 when the no1 engine power turbine blew up, it also took out the number 2 engine in the explosion, and also the sync shaft wich caused it to eat all six blades and both rotor heads. all before the pilot could get on the rotor brake. yea a bird can bring a twin engine plane to its knees!
I am currently on my 27th year in the Air Force. I got this info off our safety site. The jet was a 2 seat trainer. A bird will do damage, seen and read about alot of bird strikes. Worked F-4's, F-16's, and now work on the last C-141's in the world. Soon to get C-5's, the largest american made cargo aircraft. Really not that excited!
