Default Football injury to son

Just trying to get it together again. Last season , actually prior to season , son injured his back , thought his football days were over. Injury was to his spine , actually a fracture wiyh no threat of paralysis. Played 7 games with injury. Comes back for his senior season of college football . He is bigger ,faster ,and stronger. Final week of his season, practice , makes a couple of hits and bam , feels all weird. Gets checked by team DR. and the new injury may be worse. Won't know until MRI is done. Feel bad for my son , but if he comes out healthy after this it will all be a footnote. Thanks for a place to vent.

THat sucks. Hope it is something that will not cause future surgery. Had a buddy messed up like that. Every time he came back he got hurt. IMO he was too small to play (5'4, 135).

Thanks for your support. Son was a safety , 5'10" 205lbs , 4.4 speed. Lifted in the last olympic trials. Last injury probably ended that dream of lifting in the olympics . This one I hope doesn't dash any dreams. Last year of college then onto career in sports medicine, kind of ironic isn't it?

I know the feeling, I pinched my spinal cord playing football and found out that I was missing half my C-1 vertabre. Dr said that I was lucky to live, much less walk. I hope all goes well, best of luck to you and your son.

Pray it's nothing too bad. May be time to call it quits if you want to or not. Gotta think about the future.

Great game and unfortunately folks get seriously injured playing it -- hopefully the injury can be easily healed (no surgery). Either way, it might be time that your son start conteplating life after football, not sure the risk is worth the reward.
