Sturgis Trip from Hell w/pics
Left Monday Aug. 1st at midnight. My husband and I drove out pulling a 16 ft trailer with 4 bikes in it. 3 Road Kings and 1 Ultra Classic. We drove until about 6 p.m. Tuesday and stayed the night in Indiana.
Wed - Drove into South Dakota at Iowa border and spent the night. On one gas up and a check of the bikes we found out the back end of the Ultra must have bounced and shifted over. It let it lay over a little and the fairing had been rubbing the windshild of one of the Road Kings. It scraped off the paint about 4 inches long and 1 inch high. Scraped it bare. Of course it had to be the BRAND NEW ULTRA with 1,000 miles on it. [:@]
Thurs - Continued on. Did the necessary stop at Wall Drug. Picked up the rest of the group at the airport. Checked in our cabins in Keystone, SD. Had dinner and some beers.
Fri - Hot the past few days. Over 100 easy. Rode to Wyoming to see Devil's Tower.

Hit a few of the little towns along the way. Nice day but really hot.
Sat - Went and walked around Sturgis. Hot again. Did Broken Spoke Saloon, etc.
Took a ride over to Full Throttle Saloon.

Was hot as anything. Started getting killer headache. My face felt gritty to the touch. If I wiped my forehead it was just all salt. Came back to cabin. Slugged down some gatorade and aspirin. Felt terrible. Think I might have gotten heat stroke or heat exhaustion - whatever you call it. [:-]
Sun - Went to the Badlands. Love the place. It's absolutely beautiful.

Started looking like it was going to rain. Raced the clouds back on the way. Just kept lightening north of us. Pulled into a small town called Scenic that we found last year. It's on the edge of the badlands. Population 16. It's great place to be out of the way but find a good time. Last year we met pro wrestler Goldberg there.

We had a few beers. Someone came into the bar saying lightening started 30 fires between where we were and Rapid City (our way home). They said hail was expected too. People grabbed their bikes and put them under porches, a couple rode theirs into the bar. Locals came out and opened their barns, garages etc and let everyone put their bikes in. Then I had to laugh. No bikes to be seen, 30 people in the street drinking a few beers and waiting for the hail. Made me laugh at that point.
So, then it feels like something grabs around my thumb. I hurry up to try to shake it off, but too late. I got stung by a giant bee. My thumb swelled up like a sausage and hurt. I couldn't bend it. Stayed like that for 2 days and was sore.
We ride home and get absolutely poured on.
Mon - Start out almost ready to leave for breakfast and plans to go to Deadwood. My husband comes out of the cabin holding his nose. Blood is pouring out of it and running down his hands to his elbows. We get him to sit on the picnic table, pinch his nose and lean forward. I go in to get another towel and see that the bathroom looks like a crime scene. He went to blow his nose and ended up with a severe nose bleed. It wouldn't stop, kept pouring out and then he started to sweat and feel like passing out. He says to call the ambulance. They show up and take him to the hospital. Doctor puts a clamp on his nose. Still doesn't help. She says she is going to pack it which basic
