I said no but wanted to say h3ll no. After signing all the papers at 3pm a time they set I was left in the waining room until 5pm when I ask the general mangler if I could get my bike and go home. His response was give me a minute I am real busy.  The store closed at 6pm with me still in the waiting room. At 630 a real nice man from parts, John, took me outside and went over my bike with me.. Then the owner sent me a letter asking when I get my survey would you please use only 9s and 10s in your answers I'm trying to get the top 25 dealer award. You bet your arse I will. They did not 1 thing to make me want to return to them for anything. By the was this is Colonial Harley~Davidson in Virginia just in case you ever want to waste a day and get treated with the utmost of disrespect. I don't seem to even be on their mailing list since they have something going on all the time and send my friends invations but not me. I don't mind them saving their postage, I don't plan to return.

I have 2 local dealers owned by the same guy.  I really never have a problem.  The people and the parts departments are way different though.  I drive the 1/2 hour to the one I bought my bike from instead of the one right down the street just for the people.

when i walk in my dealer, i'm greeted by my sales person, and the manager comes over and says hi and shakes my hand every time i come in.  they all know the bike i have and they all know me  by my first name.  i've given them a lot of business, but they are 130 miles away, so i don't get there often.  always a good experience though

I've been happy with the dealership here in Greensboro, NC. They're nice folks and the service department seems pretty knowledgable - they're also really good about following up and letting you know when a part comes in, plus, the girls in the merchandise department are easy on the eyes.. if ya know what I mean

I am 100% sure the parts and motor clothes departments will get me what I ask for, price is non-negotiable. Service department is indifferent to me, they will never touch my bike unless it's warranty. The staff is the best, free coffee bar, they want you to stop buy after the sale (yea I know, the more I'm there the more I'll spend). I call it my Harley Dealership.

Everyone at my dealer has been great although I know people that hate it and won't even go through
the doors.  I stop by every chance I get. I'm sure its because I'm always byeing stuff though.

As long as I don't have to get my bike serviced by any of the local dealers (praying for no warranty related work!)  I like them fine.....

I walk in the front door and the sales guys say, "What's up Brian?" Go past the parts counter on my way to service and the parts guys say, "Hey Brian, how's it going?" Then when I do get to the service department I'm greeted with, "Damn it Brian, whatcha do now?" The chickitas in Motorclothes are deffenitly a bon.....................................us. My dealership are great people. Same folks own the one just south in Roseburg. Great people down there as well.

Every time I walk into the HD store, I'm greeted like a long lost friend by the salesman, parts guy, and girls behind the counter.  I still don't get it but I'm not complaining.  Great place.  Leesburg Gator HD.

My neighbor and I (and we have logged abioyt 25K miles together on many corss country treks) bought n2008 Ultyras (I had a 2005, but this was his first HD) and did our buy all via email and a few calss.  We odered ABS, 103" w/255s, slip ons and air box.  We also added some "goodies", including saddlebag rails that are no longer in the HD catalog.

Black Canyon HD in Montrose, CO (Dennis, the manager and Ben, the sales manager) handled us superbly!  here's why:

The saddlebag rails?  Ben searched dealerships and found two sets for us!  A last minute change (my screw up, not theirs) meant an overnight delivery or some hoop jumping to get my part...they did it!

Delivery day we took them out and they made sure we did a couple of miles circling the block and riding a small dirt alley to scuff in the tires and clean off the mold relaese because we were about to ride a rathwer trecherousd twisty road (Oray, CO to Sliverton, CO...thousands of pot holes, gravel mountain runn off, critters, etc.).

We were 20 miles out when I stopped to get a smoke and noticed an oil leak with a puddle of oil behind the rear cylinder!  I HAD to go back, but my neighbior had to make it back to ABQ, NM to go to work that evening (it was about 1:00 PM at that time).

I returned to the dealer and they had that baby on the lift and tore through it to find the probllem.  No reallty big deal...the "O" ring on a pushrod cover got pinched (remember, they did the 103" build for us).

After curing that, the dealeer hiomself was detailing my bike, including claenin the saddle!  by now, it was after 5:00 PM and I was ready to head home...NO WAY!  The dealer explained that it was snowing in Ouray, deer and dark were approaching, and I was to stay in a hotle for the night on their dime!

1,000 miles later, we diecided to run the 320 miles and have them do the servicve.  Took the wives along for their first really long ride (they are lunch riders!).  we made a three day weekend of it.

Now, servicing two Ultras...figure five hours or so.  I asked if someone could run us back to our hotel (the gals just had to buy helmets and shirts and stuff, so they had come with us to the shop).  Ride back????  NOPE!  They gave us the shop pickup to use!!!!!

Come on, folks...is this service or WHAT?????

Black Canyon is honest, sincere, no huge mark ups...and a pleasure to deal with...true friends!

If anyone in NM, CO or UT is in the market...give these guys a chance!  I promise you won't be disappointed!

Yes and No.

Yes, I'm sure I'll get a reasonable deal on the next bike.
No, I'm sure they'll try to steal any trade-in.
No, despite my loyalty etc, I'll never get pushed to the head of the service line when in dire need.
Yes, They will answer my questions.
No, I'm not sure if the answers are correct.
Yes, The sales guy always remembers me.

Many riders go to the Discount muilt store dealer and some save a few bucks ,not much.
I know a person that drove 100 miles to a discount dealer to save 100 dollars, then bitched because he could not jump ahead in line for service at
the local dealer.
Well thats were these walmart dealers come from.
Those that go to dealers that have been owned by the same  people, the tech and parts people have been around a long time have no problems.
It is some how cool to buy a knock off part on ebay then call the dealer a stealer.
And when their Hd does not run right after a walmart stage 1 and Bubba the indy that never finished tech school worked on it they agin blame HD.
Labor cost are high look around it is the same every were. But When a GOOD dealer ship works on it you get your money worth.
Mischlers HD beaver Dam Wi.
50 years same owner. Great honest people. I guess that why I wonder were they come up up all that stealer stuff

I have four dealers within a 45 minute drive. The closest dealer is a shoestring Ma and Pa operation in the farm lands. No selection of bikes, accessories or clothing and you have to pound on the desk to get someone out of the back to help you .... don't know how they meet the HD standards.

Dealer two struck me as a used car dealer. Swaggering, sun glassed sales dudes with no idea as to what they were selling.

Dealer three managed to get my money four different times during the HD heydays when MSRP was a joke and bikes were hard to get. They always had bikes so they were the only game in town at that time. The sales guy never seemed to have the time to say Hi and the parts guys always acted bored.

The guy that gets my dollars now is the farthest from me but has been great in all respects. The sales guy always has time to say Hi and talk about the bike and anything else you want to talk about. One afternoon he spent about an hour in the back area helping me pick out a set of slip-ons by starting various bikes to let me hear the different sounds. The parts guys know there stuff and the service people do it right. Very different from Dealer Three. The dealership... Freedom HD in North Canton, OH. the sales guy is Dana.

PS They weren't always like this but new management turned it around.

Bought bikes from 2 different dealers. Both wanted me to fill out a survey. Threw both of them in the trash can. I paid for what I bought, if they want me to work they have to pay for it.

I have a low opinion fo my closest dealers sales department. I went else where for my last purchase. But........... the service department has been fantastic. I had a charging issue. They checked the output, load tested the battery and found a loose connection. All that before even making up a repair order. I asked the charge and they said it wasn;t worth writing it up, we'll catch you some other time. The parts man gave me a seat hold down nut that goes through the fender another time. He never even told me how much they were.
I'll give them some more business. I like it when I feel like a winner coming out of a dealer instead of feeling like I just put some guys kid through college.
So that is a good review on my closest dealer, others I have dealt with get a thumbs down. I understand it takes bucks to foot an overhead, but small concessions help bring customers back.

I've got 3 dealers within a 50 mile radius of my home town...one's in Chillicothe, Ohio and I've tried a few times over the years to deal with them...prices too high and don't seem to care if they sell you to you or not...

One of the others is in Huntington WVa, used to be Benjy's, now Charlie's...I've bought one bike from them in '04 and still don't know how it happened, just lucked into a deal...prices will give you nose bleeds and there's no dealing on the price...and other than one pretty decent salesguy, no matter how many times you've been there, they don't know or care who you are...

The last place is where I do my business, Baxter's in Bidwell, Ohio...bought my Train there, good price and very fair trade in on my '04...MSRP or below about all the time, last time I was there V Rods were $1,000 below MSRP...10% off on all parts, H-D or any other brand...you walk in and you get personally treated honest and RIGHT...I think last time I checked online, they had the highest customer satisfaction rating in Ohio...I know the other dealers around here hate to hear of you going to Baxter's, because they know they've lost your business now and in the future...I've took a number of friends there who've become real happy buyers and customers...

Not a real tough question as far as I'm concerned.

My dealership has been and is nothing short of fantastic.

I get service and maintenace reminders, thank you's, post cards, sale coupons, discounts, open house inventations, a personalized custom calendar with a photo of my bike an myself, happy _________ holiday cards (just plug in the holiday). Now this has been OVER a YEAR since I purchased my new RK.

And they know who I am EVERY time I walk into the door, or call on the phone, be it Sales or parts or attire.

I sledom go to the service desk, but even as unfrequent as I am their, I get the same courtious responses and answers to any questions as well.

And for any that want to know who they are:

Southside Harley-Davidson/Buell
Virginia Beach VA

+1
Hampton Roads HD/ Buell
Yorktown Virginia,
owned by the same person/family that owns Southside. All Riders, all friendly. All courteous before and after the sale. All I would consider friends and many of whom I ride and socialize with. They even go way above and beyond. I recently had a friends of mine's daughter's house burn down. She is a single mom of 2 little boys. I went to all people I knew, personally, /professionally and also to my church to try to get them some stuff. They lost everything. No renters insurance..yadda, yadda, yadda. The guys (and gals) at the Dealer put a jar out, collected contributions, gave personally and some of the gals in motor clothes even got a box of toys together for the kids.

http://www.hrhd.com/

I, too, am proud to let you know who they are, they have done me right in all respects. Can't beat them hands down.

I feel sorry for those who don't have a dealership with all that Mine has going on....

I am pleased with the service I have received from HD Central in Grand Island, Nebraska.  They are family operation and have a good service department.  Over the past 9 years I have purchased 3 new bikes from them.  I think it is important to remember that doing business is a two-way street.  I expect to be treated as a valued customer but I also make an effort to deserve that treatment.  I'm appreciative of what they do for me and in return I am loyal to them.  Aren't all good relationships a two-way street?

I voted Yes. I've had a good dealer experience. The term stealer started during the days of waiting lists and mark ups over msrp. I don't think it applies anymore.

I think yes/no is too black and white.

I have confidence in the mechanics.  The gal that sells the shirts and crap seems to know her stuff.  And now that this one guy is gone, I'm OK with the parts counter too.... so I said "yes".

There was a
