I'm removing the rear wheel & tire tonight so that i can have a new tire mounted tomorrow. I noticed that i'm going to have to remove the pipes (big shot longs) to get the axle out...[:@]...just put 'em on three weeks ago..
Is it OK to turn the axle around so the nut is on the right side?...sure would make it easier next time. sounds like a silly question...but I don't want any surprises..like my rear wheel passing me..
the brake pads look ok, but I doubt they have another 10k in them...so I'll replace those while I'm in there.
Thanks....<headed out to the shop>

I wouldn't, but you are the one servicing your bike......
Shouldn't be that much of a stretch, but be on the safe side and make sure your axle is really clean and smooth, along with the inner bearing races prior to lubing up......
I though that they put them through that way as a safety feature. Direction of rotation and threads etc...
In case of a bearing seizure, the axle would be tightened instead of loosened when it is installed properly .Reversing it in the swing arm will give you the opposite.
