I am organizing an HD Forums SW Mini Rally for any members that might be interested. This is going to be a riding rally through the Colorado Rockie Mountains. There are 22 paved mountain passes in Colorado that are in excess of 10,000 ft., and we are going to go to each of them, plus a ride to the top of Mt. Evans, which is the highest paved highway in the USA.
This ride will start in Bloomfield, NM on June 25 and end in Chama, NM on June 29th. The ride will be about 300 to 350 miles per day, and will usually require between 10 and 12 hours each day due to the twisties, and the scenic stops. By starting on Monday and ending on Friday, everyone will have a weekend to get here, and a weekend to get home.
We are calling it the "Haul Ass for the Pass" ride, and I am having T-Shirts made that will depict a donkey on a motorcycle with the mountains in the background. The back will be like a concert tour T-Shirt with the names and elevations of all the passes on it.
I will have packets available around the 1st of the year that will include maps, motel availability, etc. for anyone that would like one. Just PM me your address.
This ride is going to be very informal, and everyone is going to be encouraged to ride at their own pace rather than trying to ride as a group the whole time. We can then meet in the evenings to hash over the days events.
This ride will be a little challenging, but something of an accomplishment as well.
I am planning a "meet and greet" with supper at my house on the evening of the 24th before the ride.
