This 1950 WR Hill Climber is a Real Piece of Documented History

Harley-Davidson isn’t just famous for making the best cruisers in the two-wheeled world, it also has a long and rich history of racing behind it. That racing history includes not only paved and dirt flat track, but also things like competitive hill climbing.

WR

This 1950 WR has actually done both in its many years of racing, and thanks to some quality care over the years it is still ready to do battle it out today. Its history began in California’s central valley, where it was built by Monte Miller and driven by Marsh Runyon. After Runyon retired in 1986, he decided to restore it.

The restoration retained the original 1950 WR motor, an early Harley frame, WR tanks, custom race setups, chains covering the rear wheel (for hill climbing), and Runyon’s trademark drilled out holes in various spots around the bike to reduce weight.

WR

Following completion of the restoration in the 90’s, the WR was moved to a motorcycle racing museum in Fresno. Now it’s up for sale and looking for a new home, and potentially a return to the racing circuit. If you love vintage race Harley’s (and who doesn’t?), you can own a piece of history by bidding here.
